PokerStars’ World Championship of Online Poker makes another record-breaking year

October 14, 2019 by forimmediaterelease.net -

The casino industry has always been lucrative. With its allure to the risk-loving individuals with high testosterone levels, the industry has made billions and even trillions of dollars.

With the popularization of Internet services and the real money casino online games, the industry has seen even more revenues. The reason is simple: the players can access their favorite casino games from any part of the world at any time of the day.

This trend is particularly obvious with the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) held by PokerStars. After the record-breaking year of 2018, the tournament set another record this year.

2019 record

With the huge WCOOP attendance rate in 2019, the Championship far surpassed its predetermined prize pool. Initially, the guaranteed total prize money for winners was set to $75 million, however, with over 1.2 million player entries, the prize volume was increased by close to $30 million to reach $104.7 million.

It’s interesting to note that this year’s record outweighs the record made the previous year. In 2018, the World Championship of Online Poker had the largest prize pool of $99 million on offer. Online gambling is apparently conquering its revenue heights.

20-day tournament’s Main Event High broke another record with its $11.18 million prize pool, becoming the largest WCOOP Main Event since 2010.

Record in Europe

The Championship was an overwhelming success in European countries as well. This year, the players of Southern Europe, namely Spain, Portugal, and France were able to access Galactic Series.

The series had a guaranteed prize volume of €15 million, which was far surpassed with the actual prize pool of €19.42 million across 23 days of gaming. This number beat last year’s €17 million prize pool.

Even in Italy, the expected €3 million pool increased to about €3.7 million in Galactic Series. The European division of WCOOP clearly didn’t fall behind the global payout rate.

European Poker Tour in Barcelona

While the World Championship of Online Poker was a great success with record-breaking numbers, the world of online poker didn’t stop there.

The recent European Poker Tour in Barcelona turned out to be another record-breaking event in the online poker world. In fact, the tour was so successful that in its 16 years of existence, the recent one has claimed the title of the largest stop in the history of poker tours.

The European Poker Tour in Barcelona, with its 12-day gaming event, saw more than 23,600 registered players. The series took place from August 20th to September 1st and gave out more than €52.9 million in prize awards.

The main tournament was another big event in the history of EPT with 1,988 registered players. It eventually ended with €9.6 million in awarded prize money and the main prize went to the winner, Simon Brandstrom, who also won World Poker Tour UK this year.

Online casino is flourishing

As you can see, online casino tournaments are making incredible amounts of money and are breaking previous records. This year, the total prize pool of the World Championship of Online Poker surpassed $100 million mark with its $104.7 million in total awards.

PokerStars’ World Championship of Online Poker makes another record-breaking yearThe tournament’s Main Event broke another record with $11.18 million prize pool. These and other record-breaking rates show just how successful the online casino industry really is.

Jamaica Immigration: Online Immigration and Custom Declaration

August 23, 2019 by PressEditor

Jamaica now offers an online version of the Immigration and Customs Declaration form (C5) for arriving travelers at the island’s international airports.

The online form will enable passengers to be processed more seamlessly through the arrival process (Immigration and Customs) in the island. This will also lead to a reduction in waiting and processing times in both Immigration and Customs.

The form is currently (available here: https://c5online.pica.gov.jm/apply/) provides travellers with the option to be completed prior to their travels to Jamaica (once their travel has been booked) as opposed to filling out the physical form upon arriving at their respective airport.

The Online Passenger Declaration Form captures the same information as the current paper Immigration and Customs Passenger Declaration Form. The electronic format, once completed, is then submitted to Immigration Officers and Customs Officers and when passengers arrive at the airport in Jamaica, they are processed by designated officers.

“As Jamaica’s arrivals numbers continue to soar, it’s important that we offer a speedier process at our airports, so our visitors spend less time waiting in immigration and customs and more time enjoying the destination,” said Elizabeth Fox, Jamaica Tourist Board’s UK and Northern Europe regional director. “We’re continuously seeking ways to enhance our visitors’ experience while in Jamaica and we hope this improved experience also promotes greater return visits for our guests.”

“The new system is efficient because it is user-friendly and requires minimal effort on the part of the traveler,” said Andrew Wynter, CEO of Jamaica’s Passport, Immigration & Citizenship Agency. “Once you click on one of the boxes, it moves you onto the next option; we don’t want people spending too much time on the form, we want them focusing on their stay and experience in Jamaica.”

According to PICA, the system was created and designed by the Information and Communication Technology staff at both PICA and JCA, in consultation with other stakeholders. As part of its continuing efforts to improve the arrivals experience, the customs agency’s next project is to launch a mobile application.

Puerto Rico Tourism: Out with the old, in with the new

April 25, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

“Since our inception last July, we hit the ground running to accelerate the tourism economy,” said Brad Dean, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico. “This brand campaign follows a strong publicity effort that set up Puerto Rico as the top place to visit in 2019 and a recently revamped website, DiscoverPuertoRico.com.

“The creative highlights our two strongest assets – our culture and our people – and will help us strengthen traveler’s familiarity with what makes our Island one-of-a-kind.”  The campaign officially launches today across digital channels via digital banners, social, pre-roll and a follow-up TV spot that will launch in coming weeks in key markets. Additional marketing support is expected throughout the rest of 2019, to attract visitors to the Island during the summer travel season.”

Discover Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico’s newly-established Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), announced today the rollout of Puerto Rico’s brand campaign called “Have We Met Yet?” which draws inspiration from Puerto Rico’s cultural and natural offerings and at its essence, focuses on the hospitable and welcoming nature of its people. By posing the question “Have We Met Yet?” the creative re-introduces the Island to the world and brings to life the exotic yet familiar essence of Puerto Rico. As the U.S. mainland’s “neighbor to the south,” the new campaign showcases through Puerto Rico’s iconic doors how the Island welcomes visitors with open arms.

Following extensive research that showed that Puerto Rico’s brand identity was neutral in the minds of travelers, this new campaign is this next phase of Discover Puerto Rico’s brand repositioning process, enabling the Island to fully capitalize on its rich tourism product offerings and emerge as a leading Caribbean destination. The creative repositions the island as that neighbor that one dreams of – with the festive flair, the ocean view, the incredible art collection, the delicious food. Puerto Rico is the neighbor you’ll laugh with, celebrate with, and maybe even fall in love with.

“Puerto Rico’s people, its rich culture and unparalleled natural offerings, combined with the fact that it’s a U.S. territory and easily accessible, were key factors that led to this creative. We’re excited to debut this brand campaign as it opens the door, literally, to endless possibilities that showcase the spirit of the Puerto Rican people and everything the Island has to offer,” said Leah Chandler, CMO of Discover Puerto Rico.

Travelers exposed to the new brand campaign will be immediately drawn by the colorful vibrant doors and stunning imagery found throughout the Island. The creative highlights many aspects that make Puerto Rico a unique destination—ranging from its people, its cuisine, its festive spirit, its natural attractions, and much more.

“The campaign invites travelers to visit Puerto Rico and meet us, the neighbor that you can’t live without,” said Chandler. “Puerto Rico was named the #1 Place to Visit in 2019 by the New York Times and has topped over 20 other notable lists of places to visit this year,” she added. “We want to send a message to all travelers that this is THE year to visit Puerto Rico. The entire island is eager to welcome them.”

The creative was ideated and produced by Beautiful Destinations, with support from local production crews who traveled throughout the Island to capture the beautiful scenery, thousands of colorful doors, and welcoming faces of the Puerto Rican people.

To view the “Have We Met Yet?” creative online, visit YouTube.com/DiscoverPuertoRico and be on the lookout for additional campaign creative coming soon.

State of the Air: Hawaii boasts some of the best air quality in the nation

April 24, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

The American Lung Association’s 2019 “State of the Air” report found that Hawaii has some of the cleanest air in the U.S. and Honolulu and Kahului-Wailuku-Lahaina are two of the cleanest areas in the country. Honolulu County had a new record low for an annual average of particle pollution, and less than half the highest ever level recorded in 2009-2011.

Each year the “State of the Air” provides a report card on the two most widespread outdoor air pollutants, ozone pollution, also known as smog, and particle pollution, also called soot. The report analyzes particle pollution in two ways: through average annual particle pollution levels and short-term spikes in particle pollution. Both ozone and particle pollution are dangerous to public health and can increase the risk of premature death and other serious health effects such as lung cancer, asthma attacks, cardiovascular damage, and developmental and reproductive harm.

“People in Hawaii are breathing some of the cleanest air in the nation, but increasing climate change is threatening our air quality,” said Kahala Howser, Executive Director for the American Lung Association in Hawaii. “While we are very happy with this report, Hawaiians must remain vigilant when we have vog episodes. Additionally, more than four in 10 Americans are living with unhealthy air, and we’re heading in the wrong direction when it comes to protecting public health and people’s lives.”

Honolulu had no unhealthy air days for ozone pollution. Nationally, this year’s report showed that ozone levels increased in most cities nationwide, in large part due to the record-breaking global heat experienced in the three years tracked in the report.

While the report examined data from 2015-2017, this 20th annual report online provides information on air pollution trends back to the first report. Learn more about Hawaii’s rankings, as well as air quality across and the nation, in the 2019 “State of the Air” report at Lung.org/sota.
