Hôtel Martinez, certified by Green Globe for over five years, has been recognized as a leader in sustainable practices in the French Riviera.
Last November, the Hôtel Martinez received the Jury Prize at the CSR Awards of the Maritime Alps region. Each year, Les Trophés RSE des Alpes Maritimes – CSR Awards recognize the most active companies in the region in regard to sustainable actions they have undertaken. The Jury is composed of members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Maritime Alps as well as local and national experts in sustainable development.
Florence Gardrat, Quality and Environment Manager at Hôtel Martinez said, “This is a great recognition from a jury specializing in CSR for our entire approach and efforts that span many years. The Jury particularly appreciated the commitment of the hotel and also that of the employees toward working with local charities.”
In 2018, for the third year, the Hôtel Martinez organized its annual Charity Dish event for the benefit of the Sourire et Partage (Smile and Share) Association. This non-profit association provides moral support and financial assistance to severely ill children and their families. For each niçoise salad dish sold by the Zplage Restaurant and within the hotel, 1 euro was donated to the association. This year, hotel members successfully collected more than €1600.
Since 2009, Hôtel Martinez has also partnered with the non-profit association Le Rayon de Soleil de Cannes, which provides support and shelter for children from families facing difficulties. While the hotel was undergoing renovations in October 2017, an auction was held to sell furniture with full proceeds totaling € 79 000. All proceeds were donated to the association.
Environmental conservation remains a priority and both management and staff are dedicated to protecting the natural heritage of the area. The hotel continues to support two local groups that raise awareness about the environment and biodiversity: Méditerranée 2000 and the Centre Permanent d’Initiatives pour l’Environnement. The hotel also participates in annual Earth Hour initiatives to help combat climate change.
