Part of the Same Family: Sandals Resorts International Debuts Refreshed Logos for Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts

May 31, 2023 by PressEditor

Modernized logos of iconic luxury all-inclusive Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts brands align inherent connections.

Sandals Resorts International (SRI) announces the debut of refreshed logos for its iconic luxury all-inclusive resort brands Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts. The modernized logos and their creation is the strategic first step in communicating the inherent connections between the brands, including Caribbean expertise, all-inclusive resort innovation and family ownership.

“The enhanced logos are not just efforts to change the status quo – there’s a much bigger purpose at play here,” says Scott Peiffer, Executive Creative Director for Unique Vacations Inc. (UVI), an affiliate of the worldwide representative of Sandals Resorts International, the company charged with delivering the brands to a global market.

According to Peiffer, Sandals and Beaches enjoy incredible brand awareness and while their distinct selling propositions are important, harnessing the positive synergy between the two is critical as travelers naturally move through life stages. “Sandals is an incredibly successful brand with a rich history that dates over 40 years and so it was both a thrilling challenge and weighty responsibility to preserve the hallmarks of the original logo while stylistically aligning it with sister brand Beaches,” said Peiffer.

“Refreshing the logos is a tangible indicator of SRI’s commitment to innovation and modernization.”

UVI Chief Marketing Officer Tony Cortizas added, “We are building upon our incredible heritage and want our marks to reflect our momentum and to draw a clear family connection between our brands in the marketplace.”

Type foundry and design studio, House Industries was tapped for the logo design work. The agency is best known for its typeface creations, which have appeared on television, in film, on commercial products and most recently for the rebrand of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board; fashion-brand Hermès; and the award-winning magazine, The New Yorker.

While the changes to the Sandals branding are subtle, they serve as the critical foundation for the new Beaches Resorts logo. Now sharing the same script font, the logos are instantly identifiable as the same portfolio of brands. “We’ve created consistency among two of the most well-known resort brands in the world, keeping the essence of Sandals while bringing Beaches clearly within the family,” said Peiffer, creative director. “Refreshing the logos is part of the necessary work to create positive synergies between our brands, protecting our legacy and optimizing the brands for the future.”

The new Sandals Resorts logo debuted in auspicious fashion at Sandals Dunn’s River, the newest resort in the portfolio, which opened to guests on May 24, 2023. Rollout of the new Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts logos in the digital space – including web, social and through customer communications is underway.

For a behind-the-logo look, read more on this new refresh on Hello Paradise, the official blog for Sandals Resorts.

How Guam Visitors Bureau Helps 5000+ Stranded Visitors

May 30, 2023 by PressEditor

Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) is working to assist almost 5,000 stranded visitors impacted by Typhoon Mawar during their stay in Guam.

GVB has contacted tour agents, local bus companies, hotels, and industry partners to transport visitors and provide a sense of security by covering a portion of their lodging and meals as they await the availability of seats on outbound airlines from Guam.

“Ensuring the safety and well-being of our visitors remains a priority as our island deals with post-storm recovery efforts,” said Acting President & CEO Gerry Perez. “Keeping with our island’s Håfa Adai spirit, the hard-working staff at GVB are working alongside our tourism partners to extend our hospitality to our stranded visitors.”

Partnerships through recovery

GVB has been working with Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association (GHRA) in reaching out to the tourism industry with these response efforts.

The Korean Consulate’s Office has also partnered with GVB to transport visitors who need immediate medical services and volunteers who can assist with translation and medical inquiries.

The consulate also provided water to departing visitors at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport. At the same time, GVB contacted local cultural leaders to provide musical entertainment in the departure terminal.

At the request of GVB President & CEO Carl T.C. Gutierrez, Dr. Thomas Shieh and the Guam Medical Association also provided a listing of clinics that help with the urgent healthcare needs of tourists, including American Medical Clinic, Seventh Day Adventist Clinic, Guam Medical Care, Guam Radiology Center, Dr. Shieh’s Clinic & Associates, One Love Pediatrics, MPG Pediatrics, Lombard Medical, The Neurology Clinic, and FHP Medical Clinic.

GVB’s Visitor Concierge Program has been fielding hundreds of calls to assist visitors impacted by the storm.

The main hotline for visitors that speak Korean, Japanese, or Mandarin Chinese is (671) 588-3030.

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation Invites Cruise Passengers to Enjoy Revitalized Nassau Cruise Port

May 29, 2023 by PressEditor

A new terminal, Junkanoo museum, and more welcome visitors with a taste of authentic Bahamian flair steps from the dock.

After three years of construction, today, the reimagined Nassau Cruise Port opens its doors to cruisers sailing to Nassau, the vibrant capital city of the archipelago.

Featuring a sixth berth and new terminal building, the revitalised port is now home to a Junkanoo museum, event and entertainment spaces, a 3,500-seat amphitheatre, a living coral exhibit, local stores and new food and beverage facilities.

“The new Nassau Cruise Port offers a whole new experience for cruise visitors,” says the Honorable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation. “Not only will Bahamian culture shine through all aspects of the port but the completion of the project marks a great milestone in ushering a new era for tourism in downtown Nassau, as well as a beautiful welcome for the millions of cruisers who disembark here each year.”

With support from Junkanoo experts Arlene Nash Ferguson and Percy “Vola” Francis, the Nassau Cruise Port Junkanoo Museum is an immersive experience, sharing the story of the destination’s national cultural festival. Authentically Bahamian products are on display across 40 retail spaces at the port, including local businesses such as Bahama Hand Prints, Bamboo Shack, and much more.

“We anticipate our traffic numbers for 2023 to exceed pre-pandemic levels with about 4.2 million visitors.”

Mike Maura, Port Director for Nassau, added: “Our growth trajectory is quite promising. In 2019, which was the busiest year for us to date, we had 3.85 million visitors. For 2024, we already have 4.5 million confirmations.”

Earlier this year, the Nassau Cruise Port set a record-breaking passenger arrival, welcoming 28,554 cruise visitors in one day – a testament to how the cruise industry is an important component to The Bahamas’ economy. The new and improved port provides entrepreneurial opportunities for Bahamians in addition to benefiting local businesses, shops and restaurants.

In celebration of the grand opening, the Nassau Cruise Port will be hosting a handful of private events on site as well as a “Cruise Passenger Day Party” on May 27, 2023, inviting passengers to explore the new facilities complete with Junkanoo rushouts.

Summer Tourism Boom as Celebrities Flock to Jamaica

May 29, 2023 by PressEditor

Coming out of the best winter tourist season ever, Jamaica is now set to achieve record visitor arrivals for the summer.

“As of May 10, 2023, the island has welcomed just over 1.5 million total visitors, with provisional gross earnings exceeding US$ 1.6 billion for the same period. The 2023 summer is gearing up to be the best summer in the history of tourism in Jamaica,” says Jamaica Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett.

Already, 1.4 million seats have been secured, representing a 16% increase over the previous best in 2019. Jamaica’s main source market, the United States of America, has locked in 1.2 of these seats. “We are expecting a load factor of some 87.5%, which means that 1.2 million visitors will come to Jamaica over the summer period and will bring revenue of some US$1.5 billion just within that period of June to August,” says Mr Bartlett.

Travel bookings are currently showing a rise of 33% compared to summer 2022 and the anticipated boom is being weighed against Jamaica having welcomed approximately 3.3 million visitors for 2022/23 to register a remarkable recovery of earnings compared to pre-Covid earnings of 2019.

Minister Bartlett is upbeat over the increasing number of celebrities flocking to Jamaica.

“Making Jamaica their place of choice for a vacation is testimony to the post-Covid impression we have made and the appeal that we now have in the marketplace as well as confidence in what we offer as a leading destination,” he says.

The most recent celebrity to grace Jamaica’s shores is American actress Angelina Jolie, who was spotted Saturday at the 15th Calabash International Literary Festival in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, which has become a cultural mecca that attracts thousands of writers and literary enthusiasts from across the globe.

Another celebrity recently on the island was top U.S. rapper ‘2Chainz’ whose real name is Tauheed Epps. He stood out at a party at Elevate Lounge and Nightclub in Montego Bay Wednesday night for the launch of Mochafest Jamaica 2023.

Mocha Fest is an Afro-American and Afro-Caribbean destination festival brand that promotes freedom of self and expression and since 2014, has been creating life-changing vacation experiences for thousands of people across the world. The series of party events started as a single festival in Jamaica with only 200 people and has now grown to multiple destinations worldwide with events as large as 5,000 attendees.

‘2Chainz’ was joined by Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism, Delano Seiveright, other government officials and scores of largely American party vacationers. He has been sharing his time in Jamaica with his over 12 million Instagram followers, giving the country tremendous exposure.

‘2Chainz’ and Angelina Jolie join a slew of other celebrities, including Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau and his family; Senior US President Joe Biden administration Cabinet member and U.S. Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen; Maryland Governor Wes Moore; Hollywood screen actors Michael Douglas, his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, John Amos and Tracee Ellis Ross; Nigerian Afrobeat mega-star Burna Boy as well as American music stars Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Offset, Rick Ross, Omarion and Chance the Rapper, who have made Jamaica their preferred vacation spot in recent months.

Meanwhile, capitalizing on the goodwill being generated, Minister Bartlett is gearing up to lead a high-profile team from the Ministry of Tourism to sure up business in the lucrative North American travel market.
