Z&Y Peking Duck Announces Grand Opening

Michelin recognized Chef Lijun Han of San Francisco’s popular Chinese dining destination debuts new private event and dining space.

Chef Lijun Han, owner of Chinatown’s newest dining destination, Z&Y Peking Duck, has announced that the restaurant will celebrate its Grand Opening and the completion of its new event space designed for social and corporate events and  VIP parties. Featuring modern Chinese décor with a vibrant red and gold color scheme, the space has been completely remodeled for private parties and events for up to 60 people and features two large custom tables with built in lazy Susans.  Each table can comfortably accommodate up to 10-12 people. The space currently features wall art honoring the Year of the Dragon, delicate, red oversized paper chandeliers, and warm wood accents with slatted wood separators to create an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.

“I hope it becomes a dining institution for authentic Beijing dishes for years to come,” said Chef Han. “We’ve felt very fortunate these last few months to have shared so many great dishes from my home city of Beijing.  The San Francisco community has welcomed us warmly.”

Z&Y Peking Duck is a celebration of the centuries-old Beijing Peking Duck that is an icon of Chinese culinary culture. The meticulous preparation starts with an organic, fresh, high-quality duck that is par-boiled and dried for 24 hours. The duck is brushed with a light layer of honey to ensure the skin is exceptionally crispy, tasty, and slightly sweet before being roasted to perfection in special, single-purpose roasting ovens. The rest of the menu at Z&Y Peking Duck is focused on contemporary Beijing-inspired dim sum, small plates, seasonal items, and popular dishes from its sister restaurant, Z&Y.

The roasted duck, which can be ordered whole ($78) or half ($48), is sliced and served in the authentic style or uniquely elevated with caviar ($158), along with crisp julienned cucumbers and scallions, house-made Hoisin sauce, and delicate flour wraps. The menu’s dishes are meant to be shared and include a wide selection of dim sum such as savory potstickers, hearty skewers, crispy egg rolls, and mouth-watering buns. Other dishes include Stir-Fried Crab with House Spicy Sauce, Clay Pot Braised Lamb Ribs, Szechuan Twice-Cooked Pork with Sauteed Cabbage and Leek, and more.
