Travel to Botswana with the Director of The Living Desert, October 2018

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is sponsoring a trip of a lifetime with an extraordinary opportunity to visit Botswana, Southern Africa, October 21-30, 2018. The Living Desert’s Botswana Great Wing Safari 10-day adventure highlights three amazing destinations with the chance to experience dry game drives, canoeing wet safaris, walking safaris, and more.

Leading the tour is Allen Monroe, President/CEO of The Living Desert. “Botswana is truly a wild destination where the animals will roam free amongst us. This is a unique experience and one that I can’t wait to share with friends of The Living Desert,” expressed Monroe. “Throughout the trip, I will be one of your expert guides, interpreting what we see via land, water and by foot.”

The itinerary begins with an overnight stop in Johannesburg before heading off to Maun, where attendees will board small bush flights to remote regions of Botswana, stay at three different camps: Camp Okavango in the Okavango Delta; Camp Moremi in the Moremi Wildlife Game Reserve; and Chobe Game Lodge in Chobe National Park.

Each day, guests will branch out for a different exciting encounter including a big game drive in a 4×4 open vehicle with the chance to see huge herds of water buffalo, antelope, and elephant, observe lions, cheetahs, and leopards, watch for hippo and crocodiles as you cruise the delta waterways in mekoro (canoes), and take advantage of a walking safari from camp into grassland savannah where you will touch, hear, smell and taste the nature all around.

Situated in the center of Southern Africa, Botswana is known as “Old Africa’s Last Refuge,” a land where the animals roam free. Because of the wind-blown sands in the Kalahari Desert, the area has a small human population, making it one of the most rewarding countries in Africa to experience a big game safari.
