TAT update: Summary of provincial COVID-19 control measures as of 6 January 2021

Bangkok, 6 January, 2021 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to provide the latest update on the summary of COVID-19 control measures at individual Thai provinces, categorised as maximum controlled areas, highly controlled areas, controlled areas, and areas under high surveillance by the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

The TAT Newsroom is doing our utmost to compile accurate information at the current time to inform all travellers in Thailand. This summary will be updated regularly as soon as further information becomes available. We encourage readers to revisit this website periodically to stay up-to-date with the constantly changing situation. The definition of different areas categorised by the CCSA as well as the stricter restrictions imposed by the Royal Thai Government specifically on the highly controlled areas is provided at the end of this update.

*MAXIMUM CONTROLLED AREAS (5 provinces as of 6 January, 2021)

1: Samut Sakhon + Closure of Samut Sakhon Shrimp Centre until 31 January, 2021.  

+ Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Food outlets and restaurants of all types can open for takeaway or delivery services only, and are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.  

+ Shopping malls, department stores, community malls, and similar venues are allowed to open only pharmacies, convenience marts, supermarkets and food outlets (takeaway only), and must close at 22.00 Hrs.  

+ Convenience marts or similar type of retail shops that normally open 24/7 must close from 22.00-05.00 Hrs.  

+ Markets and flea markets can open for food and drinks for takeaway, animal food, drugs and daily necessities, and can open for six hours only.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.  
+ Set up a field hospital and shelters.  

+ Stricter screening measures at entry-exit points.  

+ Individuals wanting to exist the maximum controlled areas must submit their ID card along with other supporting documents for approval by the local administration.  

+ Residents and people residing in the maximum controlled areas are required to register with Mor Chana, an app designed to help medical professionals, government agencies and the public trace COVID-19 infections .  

+ Stricter enforcement of disease control measures, including the DMHTT precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19: D – Distancing, M – Mask wearing, H – Handwashing, T – Temperature check, and T – Thai Chana contact tracing application.  

+ Stricter enforcement of a mandatory 14-day quarantine on at-risk people.  

+ Stricter enforcement of Mor Chana contact tracing application along with the Thai Chana application.

+ Travellers on interprovincial public transport must register their movement with the Thai Chana contact tracing application.  
+ People who have been to at-risk areas are required to undergo health screening and a quarantine system.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.      

2: Chanthaburi + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Dining in at food outlets and restaurants of all types is allowed from 06.00-21.00 Hrs., and thereafter allowed for takeaway or delivery services only, but sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises is not allowed.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.    

+ Stricter screening measures at entry-exit points.

+ Dining in at food outlets and restaurants of all types is allowed from 06.00-21.00 Hrs., and thereafter allowed for takeaway or delivery services only, but sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises is not allowed.  

+ Convenience marts or similar type of retail shops that normally open 24/7 must close from 22.00-05.00 Hrs.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.

*HIGHLY CONTROLLED AREAS (23 provinces as of 6 January, 2021)

CENTRAL REGION (13 provinces)

Province Measures Entry-Exit / Screening Rules
1: Bangkok + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Dining in at food outlets and restaurants of all types (except at airports) is allowed from 06.00-21.00 Hrs., and thereafter allowed for takeaway or delivery services only, but sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises is not allowed.  

+ Meetings, seminars, and banquets with more than 200 participants must seek prior approval with strict disease control measures.  

People who have been to the following areas are urged to contact the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Health Department for COVID-19 screening:  

+ Areas in five provinces: Samut Sakhon (all areas), Nakhon Pathom (Nakhon Chai Si’s Bang Rakam, Kamphaeng Saen’s Sa Si Mum, Huai Muang and Sa Phatthana, Bang Len’s Bang Luang and Don Tum), Nonthaburi (Bang Yai Market), Chon Buri (Bang Lamung district) and Rayong (Mueang district) from 15 December, 2020 until the present.  

+ Six entertainment venues in Bangkok: Groove Evening from 13 and 22 December; New Jazz and The Sun from 25 December; The Roof Bar from 13-30 December; Esan Krong Kaeo from 15-26 December, and Nong Mai Plaza karaoke from 15-26 December.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.  

2: Ang Thong + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Food outlets and restaurants can open only for delivery or takeaway services.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.  

+ 11 screening points set up across the province’s borders.  
+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.  

+ All arrivals are required to report themselves by registering with the Thai Chana contact tracing application and enter a screening system.  

+ Hospital treatment, local quarantine, or home quarantine will be required depending on the individual’s health status.    

3: Ayutthaya + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  
+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Food outlets and restaurants must apply social distancing rules or opt for delivery or takeaway services only, and are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.  

+ Shopping malls, department stores, community malls, convention centres or exhibition halls, convenience marts, supermarkets, or similar services can open per usual operating hours but must apply strict disease control measures.      

+ Arrivals from Bangkok, Chon Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Rayong, and Samut Sakhon are required to report themselves by registering with the Thai Chana contact tracing application and enter a 14-day home quarantine.  

+ Arrivals from Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phetchaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Prakan, Samut Songkhram, Saraburi, and Tak are to report to the local public health officers or village health volunteers and self-monitor themselves for 14 days.

4: Lop Buri + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  
+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Food outlets and restaurants can open, but are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.  

+ All arrivals from the highly controlled and controlled areas are required to report to the local administration and enter a 14-day home quarantine.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.

5: Nakhon Nayok + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Food outlets and restaurants can open, but are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.  

+ The public are encouraged to cancel or postpone interprovincial travel.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.  

+ Seeking cooperation from the public to cancel or postpone travel plans.  

+ Local residents who have been to the highly controlled areas are required to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day home quarantine.  

+ Local residents planning to visit the highly controlled and controlled areas as well as areas under high surveillance must notify the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day home quarantine upon return.  

+ Day-trip tourists or business persons must register their visits with the Thai Chana contact tracing application.  

+ Non-residents planning to reside in Nakhon Nayok during this time must report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day home quarantine.  

6: Nakhon Pathom + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ People who have been to at-risk areas are to monitor themselves, seek health screening, or seek medical care.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.  

7: Nonthaburi + Closure of Bang Yai Market, Bang Bua Thong Municipal Market, and Pichai Market until 12 January, 2021.  

+ Closure of Wat Lahan in Bang Bua Thong District until 14 January, 2021.  

+ Closure of all educational institutions at all levels.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*         

+ Limitation of the operating hours of businesses and venues.*  

+ All food outlets and restaurants of all types are to close from 22.00 – 05.00 Hrs. daily, and are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ People who have been to at-risk areas are to monitor themselves, seek health screening, or seek medical care.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.  

8: Pathum Thani + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Dining in at food outlets and restaurants of all types is allowed from 06.00-21.00 Hrs., and thereafter allowed for takeaway or delivery services only, but sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises is not allowed.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.  

+ People who have been to at-risk areas are to monitor themselves, seek health screening, or seek medical care.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.  

9: Samut Prakan + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ All food outlets and restaurants of all types can open, but are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.  

+ Screening points set up across the province’s borders.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.    

10: Samut Songkhram + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*

+ People who have been to at-risk areas are required to undergo health screening and comply with disease control measures including enter a 14-day home quarantine.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.  

+ Interprovincial transport businesses must submit schedules and list of employees to the local administration.  

11: Saraburi + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ All food outlets and restaurants of all types can open, but are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.

12: Sing Buri + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.

WESTERN REGION (5 provinces)

16: Prachuap Khiri Khan + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.

+ 5 screening points set up across the province’s borders.

17: Ratchaburi + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Food outlets and restaurants of all types can open under strict disease control measures, but are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.  

+ Work from home option is encouraged.  

+ Temporary suspension of public transport services on all routes between Ratchaburi and Samut Sakhon.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.  

+ Arrivals and travellers are required to undergo health screening at checkpoints.

18: Tak + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.

+ Work from home option is encouraged.    

+ People who have been to at-risk areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day quarantine.  

+ All arrivals are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day self-quarantine.  

+ Interprovincial travel is discouraged.

SOUTHERN REGION (2 provinces)

+ All arrivals at all points of entry are required to report to the local administration or public health office and undergo health screening.  

+ Hospital treatment, local quarantine, or home quarantine will be required depending on the individual’s health status.    

23: Ranong + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ A ban on any gatherings that would pose a risk of disease transmission.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Food outlets and restaurants of all types can open, but sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises is not allowed.    

+ 4 screening points set up across the province’s borders for health screening of all travellers.  
+ People who have been to at-risk areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day quarantine.  

+ All arrivals are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day self-quarantine.

*CONTROLLED AREAS (11 provinces as of 4 January, 2021)

CENTRAL REGION (4 provinces)

Province Measures / Entry-Exit Screening
1: Chai Nat + All arrivals from the highly controlled areas must present a medical certificate, issued no more than 72 hours, with an RT-PCR laboratory result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected. Or they are required to report to the local administration or public health office and be tested for COVID-19.   

+ All arrivals from the highly controlled areas are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine.   

2: Nakhon Sawan + People who have been to at-risk areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day quarantine.  

+ All arrivals are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day self-quarantine.  

3: Phetchabun + Closure of educational institutions at all levels.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues until 17 January, 2021.*  

+ Strict disease control measures must be applied at businesses and venues, which are allowed to remain open.*  

+ Food outlets and restaurants as well as shrimp fishing venues can open, but must close from 24.00-04.00 Hrs. Sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises is not allowed.  

+ Closure of Si Thep Historical Park until 31 January, 2021.  

+ People who have been to at-risk areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day quarantine.  

4: Uthai Thani + A ban on any gatherings and events with more than 100 participants. Events with less than 100 participants must strictly apply disease control rules according to the provincial public health office.

NORTHERN REGION (2 provinces)

Province Measures / Entry-Exit Screening
1: Kamphaeng Phet + Holding of mass gatherings and events are discouraged. If necessary, can be organised with a limited number of participants.  

+ 5 screening points have been set up across the province’s borders for health screening of all travellers.  

+ All arrivals are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day self-quarantine.  

2: Sukhothai + Closure of educational institutions at all levels until 15 January, 2021.  

+ Closure of at-risk businesses and venues.*  

+ Events and gatherings with less than 100 participants must seek prior approval from the provincial public health office.  

+ Sports events can be held without audiences.  

+ Arrivals from Bangkok, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Rayong, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, and Tak are required to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day quarantine.  

+ All arrivals from the remaining provinces under the highly controlled areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day self-quarantine.  

NORTHEASTERN REGION (3 provinces)

Province Measures / Entry-Exit Screening
1: Buri Ram + Arrivals from the highly controlled areas are to report to the local COVID-19 screening centre and enter a 14-day self-quarantine. Arrivals from other areas will be screened and are required to register with the Thai Chana contact tracing application.    

+ All arrivals from Bangkok and the neighbouring provinces (Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Rayong, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, and Samut Songkhram) are required to undergo strict screening procedures, including completing the T. 8 health questionnaire; register via the Mor-Chana contact tracing application; enter a 14-day quarantine either at private residences or accommodation provided by the provincial public health office.  

+ Those who do not want to enter quarantine must undergo a rapid test immediately as instructed by the local health officer. Even if the test result is negative, a 14-day home quarantine is required.    

2: Chaiyaphum + Closure of at-risk venues.*  

+ Holding of mass gatherings and events are discouraged. If necessary, the organisers must seek prior approval from the provincial public health office.  

+ Religious and traditional ceremonies can be held according to the disease control measures.  

3: Nakhon Ratchasima + All arrivals from the highly controlled areas are required to report to the local administration or public health office and undergo health screening.  

+ Hospital treatment, local quarantine, or home quarantine will be required depending on the individual’s health status.  

SOUTHERN REGION (2 provinces)

Province Measures / Entry-Exit Screening
1: Phang Nga + Closure of gambling of all types, as well as flea markets.  

+ All shops and entertainment venues must close at 24.00 Hrs.  
+ Holding of mass gatherings and events are discouraged. If necessary, the organisers must seek prior approval from the provincial public health office.  

+ Religious and traditional ceremonies can be held according to the disease control measures.  

+ All arrivals from the highly controlled areas are required to report to the local administration or public health office and undergo health screening. Hospital treatment, local quarantine, or home quarantine will be required depending on the individual’s health status.  

+ Those who have been under a 14-day state or local quarantine are required to report to the local administration or public health office for further advice.  

2: Surat Thani + 12 screening points set up across the province’s borders for health screening of all travellers.  

+ All arrivals are to report to the local administration or public health office for appropriate public health advice.

The remaining 38 provinces are classified as areas under high surveillance. *Info to be updated.*

North Chiang Rai Arrivals from the highly controlled and controlled areas will be screened according to the public health measures and are required to register with the Thai Chana contact tracing application.  
  Chiang Mai + Entertainment businesses of all types (pubs, bars, or karaoke) must close from 23.00-05.00 Hrs. All customers are required to register with the Thai Chana contact tracing application. The number of customers must be limited to 75% of the total capacity.

+ All self-service food outlets (shabu and BBQ) to switch to table service or seek prior approval for self-service option. Alcoholic beverages cannot be consumed at food outlets or restaurants, from 23-00-05.00 Hrs.

+ A ban on gatherings and events with more than 50 participants.

+ All arrivals at any points of entry must register with the CM-Chana contact tracing application and self-monitor their health for 14 days.

+ Arrivals from the highly controlled areas are required to enter a 14-day quarantine or be tested for COVID-19. Operators of accommodation of all types must collect the contact information of all guests and recheck their CM-Chana registration.  

  Lamphun + All entertainment venues and similar businesses are ordered to strictly follow the COVID-19 control measures.  
  Phayao + Arrivals from Samut Sakhon and Rayong are required to register with the local contact tracing application, enter a 10-day home quarantine, and are prohibited to join any mass gathering events.  

+ Arrivals from Bangkok, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phetchaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Prakan, and Samut Songkhram are required to register with the local contact tracing application.  

  Phrae + Arrivals from the highly controlled areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day home quarantine.  

+ Arrivals from the controlled areas, areas under high surveillance, and areas under surveillance are to report to the local administration or public health office and monitor their health for 14 days.  

+ All mass gathering events must be downsized.  

  Uttaradit + Religious venues are to cancel all mass gathering ceremonies.  

+ All workshops, meetings and seminars with less than 200 participants are to strictly follow the public health guidelines. Events with more than 200 participants must submit reasons for holding such activity and details of the public health measures.  

+ All mass gathering events with more than 100 participants are to be postponed until the situation improves.  

  Nan + Arrivals from Samut Sakhon from 1 December, 2020, are to register for contact tracing and enter a 14-day self-quarantine.  
  Phichit + Arrivals from the highly controlled and controlled areas, especially from Samut Sakhon, are to enter a 14-day self-quarantine.   
  Phitsanulok All entertainment venues are to set up a one entry-exit and follow the public health guidelines.  
 Northeast (Isan) Bueng Kan + Closure of fighting cock facilities.  

+ All entertainment venues, including karaoke, shops, restaurants, and hotels are to strictly follow the public health guidelines.  

  Kalasin Markets, flea markets, public parks, all religious and entertainment venues are to strictly follow the public health guidelines.  
  Khon Kaen + Stepping up province-wide COVID-19 control measures.  

+ The public and private sectors are urged to reconsider organising mass gathering events.  

  Maha Sarakham In full preparation to undergo the COVID-19 control measures when required.  
  Nong Khai + Seeking cooperation on the cancellation or postponement of mass gathering events.

+ All entertainment venues, shops, food outlets and restaurants, and cinemas must strictly follow the public health guidelines.  

  Nong Bua Lamphu Closure of fighting cock venues until 31 January, 2021.   
  Roi Et Arrivals from Samut Sakhon or other COVID-19 risk areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day self-quarantine.  
  Surin + Arrivals from  Bangkok,  Chon Buri, Rayong,  Samut Sakhon, and  other highly controlled areas as classified by the CCSA are to report to the local administration or public health office within 24 hours of their arrival.  

+ Sports venues, boxing stadiums, and fighting cock facilities are to set up a visitor registration system.  

+ Entertainment venues, restaurants, and shopping malls are to strictly follow the public health guidelines.  

  Ubon Ratchathani + Arrivals from Samut Sakhon and Rayong are to report to the local public health office and enter a 14-day home quarantine.  

+ Mass gathering events can be organised, but must strictly follow the public health guidelines.  

+ 14-day closure of fighting cock facilities.

+ Closure of flea markets.  

  Mukdahan + Arrivals from Samut Sakhon are to report to the local public health office and enter a 14-day home quarantine.  

+ Avoid large crowds and crowded places; such as, shopping malls, markets, flea markets, schools, cinemas, meeting rooms, sport venues, and public parks.  

  Amnat Charoen Markets and flea markets, public parks and venues, and religious venues, as well as entertainment venues must strictly follow the public health guidelines.  
  Yasothon + Arrivals from the highly controlled areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day self-quarantine.  

+ Seeking cooperation on the cancellation or postponement of mass gathering events.  

  Si Sa Ket Arrivals from COVID-19 risk areas are to undergo testing and enter a 14-day local quarantine.  
  Udon Thani Closure of boxing stadiums and fighting cock facilities.  
South  Phuket Cancellation of mass gathering events and activities, sports tournaments, and walking streets.  
  Krabi + Mass gathering events and activities can only be held under the approval from the local public health office.  

+ Travellers are welcome, but must strictly follow the public health guidelines.  

  Nakhon Si Thammarat Follow the public health guidelines.  
  Trang Setting up of 4 checkpoints for arrivals and departures by road.  
  Phatthalung Avoid mass gatherings. Postponement of New Year activities.  
  Satun + Closure of boxing stadiums, fighting cock and bull facilities, and billiard tables.  

+ Arrivals from the highly controlled and controlled areas are to report to the local administration or public health office and enter a 14-day quarantine.  

+ Arrivals from other areas, with known infections, are to refrain from leaving their residences.  

  Songkhla Follow the public health guidelines.  
  Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat + Arrivals from the COVID-19 risk areas are to report to the local administration or public health office.  

+ Cancellation of mass gathering events.  

Maximum Controlled Areas – are the provinces where a high number of local cases have been detected in more than one area, and the government has stepped up entry-exit screening and contact tracing measures.

Highly Controlled Areas – are the provinces where a high number of local cases have been detected in more than one area.

Controlled Areas – are provinces that either have a border with a highly controlled area province or have more than 10 new cases.

Areas Under High Surveillance are provinces with less than 10 cases yet have measures in place to control the community spread

Educational institutions at all levels in the highly controlled areas are ordered to close until 31 January, 2021.

Closure of at-risk venues in the highly controlled areas may vary from province to province, and may cover all of the following:

  • Entertainment businesses and venues; such as, pubs, bars, karaoke, massage parlours and bath venues;
  • Water and theme parks;
  • Children’s playgrounds and stations of all types;
  • Snooker and billiard venues;
  • Game stations, games and Internet shops;
  • Gambling venues of all types, including fighting cock-bull-fish venues, horse racetracks, and racetracks of all types;
  • Children’s nurseries or elderly care facilities (except regular overnight care services);
  • Boxing stadiums, boxing gyms and martial art gyms;
  • Banquet and similar venues;
  • Buddha amulets stalls and centres;
  • Preschool nurseries and kindergartens;
  • Beauty clinics; tattoo and piercing services;
  • Fitness centres;
  • Healthcare venues including spas and traditional Thai massage shops;
  • Ice skating rinks and bowling alleys or similar venues;
  • Dance and ballet schools. 

Businesses and venues which are allowed to remain open in the highly controlled areas under strict disease control measures may vary from province to province, and may cover all of the following:

  • All food and beverage outlets including street food stalls, restaurants, food courts and centres and cafeterias (excluding pubs and bars which are ordered closed);
  • Shopping malls, department stores and community malls;
  • Exhibition halls and convention centres; hotel’s meeting facilities;
  • Retail and wholesale shops of all types and sizes;
  • Markets, floating markets and flea markets;
  • Hair salons and barbers & beauty clinics and manicure/pedicure service venues;
  • Regular overnight care services at nurseries or elderly day cares;
  • Sports venues of all types, golf courses and driving ranges, and public parks
  • Pet care venues;
  • Botanic gardens, museums, learning centres, historical sites, national parks, public libraries, art galleries, zoos and similar venues;
  • Cinemas and theatres.

The above COVID-19 control measures at Thai provinces are in addition to the ‘New Normal’ practices already in place nationwide, including body temperature screening points, predetermined social distancing areas, plus alcohol gel and handwashing stations are provided on a regular basis.

Contact tracing measures include requiring everyone to check-in and check-out by scanning the ‘Thai Chana’ application QR code or providing contact details that are submitted to the provincial health office.

The CCSA has advised the public to take DMHTT precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19: D – Distancing, M – Mask wearing, H – Handwashing, T – Temperature check, and T – Thai Chana contact tracing application.
