Death for gay guests at Beverly Hills Hotel or Hotel Bel‑Air? Dorchester Collection issues a statement

The Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air are part of the Dorchester Collection group and upscale 5-star accommodation in Beverly Hills 2 miles from West Hollywood, known to be the Gayest City in America.

The Sultan controls the Dorchester Collection hotel group, owner of Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel‑Air among others. This is because the Sultan controls the Brunei Investment Agency (SWF). The Sultan hates gays to death.

The Sultan Hassanai Bolkiah is the head of State of Brunei and also one of the richest people on earth. He is powerful enough to put action behind his deadly wishes for the LGBT community. Stoning LGBT visitors to death in Brunei is the law as of tomorrow.

The Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) is a government-owned corporation that reports to the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Brunei. Established in 1983, its offices are located in Bandar Seri Begawan at the Ministry of Finance.

It ranks among the most secretive of sovereign wealth funds It was established in 1983, when the sultanate took over investment activities from its former colonial master, the United Kingdom. BIA invests the government General Reserve Fund, money transferred to it on the order of the sultan. Although the fund is a government entity, the line between its finances and those of the royal family remains indistinct, making its investments difficult to track.

George Timothy Clooney and Elton John and many other stars are no longer are staying in hotels operated by Dorchester Collection because there is a dangerous double standard developing right in the United States of America.

“Dorchester Collection’s Code emphasizes equality, respect, and integrity in all areas of our operation, and strongly values people and cultural diversity amongst our guests and employees.  Inclusion and diversity remain core beliefs as we do not tolerate any form of discrimination.”

This was a statement received today by Brittany Williams, the director of Communication for both hotels has a double standard here.

According to Ms. Williams, this code applies to the Dorchester Collection, and all employees wanting to work for the hotel group need to sign this code. Ms. Williams explained the Dorchester Collection is owned by the Dorchester Group.

However, according to an article in Travel Weekly from 2006, the name Dorchester Group was actually changed to Dorchester Collection. If this was the case Dorchester Collection and both Beverly Hill Hotels are directly owned by the Brunei Investment Agency.

Some major foreign assets of BIA include the Dorchester Collection, which is a portfolio of luxury hotels established in 1996; a 10% holding in the Paterson Securities of Australia, and Bahagia Investment Corporation (Malaysia), dealing with real estate.

BIA’s investment portfolio, apart from investments within Brunei, covers diverse investments in bonds, equity, currency, gold, and real estate. It has substantial investments in the United States.

Brunei investors bought The Dorchester on Park Lane in London in 1985 for US$50 million and in 1996 BIA formed the Dorchester Collection, a conglomerate of luxury hotels in UK, USA, France, and Italy which includes it. BIA owns The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles which was bought for US$185 million in 1987 as well as the Grand Hyatt Singapore Hotel. BIA has a 10% holding in the Paterson Securities of Australia, and Bahagia Investment Corporation of Malaysia, dealing with real estate.

IGLTA Foundation adds industry leaders from Google & Airbnb to its Board

The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association Foundation announced today that Dougal Mckenzie, Head of Industry, Travel, at Google, and Maria Cuba, Global Diversity Lead for Airbnb’s Experiences platform have been appointed to its board of directors. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of IGLTA.

Mckenzie, who holds both law and commerce degrees from his native Auckland, helps companies adapt to changes in consumer behavior resulting from tech advancements. Cuba is one of Airbnb’s earliest employees and the founder of their Latino Employee Group “Juntos.” Her role focuses on creating equitable opportunities and representation for all communities.

“We are honored to welcome these two dynamic additions to our Foundation board,” said IGLTAF Board Chair Reginald Charlot. “Dougal Mckenzie, a leader in advancing travel technology, and Maria Cuba, a champion for diversity in the global marketplace, will bring valuable insights to the table as we focus on our mission: education, research and leadership development to create a more welcoming travel landscape worldwide.”

IGLTA Foundation’s new NYC think tank to address key issues in LGBTQ+ Tourism

The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association Foundation (IGLTAF) inaugural Leadership Think Tank will unite top executives from LGBTQ+ welcoming destinations around the globe at Google during IGLTA’s 36th Annual Global Convention in New York City this April. The invitation-only discussion will focus on responsible tourism through the lens of LGBTQ+ welcoming travel and is presented with support from Miles Partnership and Google.

“IGLTA strives to continuously drive the conversations around LGBTQ+ travel to reflect our ever-evolving industry,” said IGLTA President/CEO John Tanzella. “We’re proud that IGLTAF has assembled for this important dialogue such an influential group of industry veterans from destinations and organizations that value our LGBTQ+ travel community.”

The Leadership Think Tank, organized in collaboration with NYC & Company and NYU’s Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality, will include leaders from Destination Canada, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, Cape Town Tourism, Destination DC, Italy National Tourist Board, Visit Dallas, Destination Niagara USA, Bermuda Tourism Authority, Discover Puerto Rico, Embratur (Brazil), Visit California, Milano Smart City Association, Greater Boston CVB, Destinations International, Tourism Madrid, Guam Visitors Bureau, U.S. Travel Association, Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB, Barcelona Tourism, Visit Salt Lake City, Thailand Tourism, and Greater Miami CVB.

• Analyzing the differences between LGBTQ+ travel niches and integration of LGBTQ+ travelers into the “mainstream”
• Diversifying LGBTQ+ products and services
• Examining cultural perspectives that impact LGBTQ+ tourism
• Discussing the challenges facing LGBTQ+ business owners in emerging destinations

Puerto Vallarta Beach Club announces the appointment of John Douponce as Director of Operations of Puerto Vallarta Beach Club.

John Douponce brings a wealth of hospitality management expertise to Puerto Vallarta Beach Club, most recently as general manager of the Chamberlain West Hollywood for the past six years. During his tenure at the OLS Hotel & Resorts property, he was responsible for the execution of a $15 million redesign of the hotel’s accommodations, public spaces, rooftop pool deck and bar. He also worked with two other OLS properties, Le Parc Suite Hotel and Le Montrose Suite as general manager, and as area director of operations for Le Montrose Suite.

John is thrilled to be a part of the luxury Estate in Puerto Vallarta.  “I have been visiting here for many years, and this is a very comfortable home for me. I am delighted to introduce Puerto Vallarta Beach Club to new guests who will appreciate what I’ve come to love, the privacy and special personalization that distinguish it from luxury resorts among the world,” he notes.

John’s extensive background in hospitality covers management, operations, profit and loss, staff training and development as well as marketing and guest relations. His business management approach focuses on identifying the distinguishing aspects of a property, repositioning the property as needed, and creating a hospitality experience that is unparalleled in the industry, one that inspires guests to return year after year. His nearly 30 years in the hospitality industry have taken him from Michigan where he worked in both restaurants and hotels to hotels and resorts in North Carolina, Orlando, Hawaii and Los Angeles, with positions in sales, marketing and management.

John originally hails from Michigan and he has spent most of his career in California.
