Airbus to attend Turkey’s IDEF 2019

April 18, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

Airbus will attend Turkey’s IDEF 2019, 14th International Defense Industry Fair, held at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul from April 30th to May 3rd.

At the exhibition Hall 2, Stand 234, Airbus will display a range of innovative defence and security products and services, including military aircraft and helicopters, perfectly in line with the aspirations of the Turkish Armed Forces in regard with the recently launched modernization programs.

Airbus will showcase a scale model of the A330 MRTT – the only new generation strategic tanker/transport aircraft combat proven and available today. The large 111 tonnes basic fuel capacity of the successful A330-200 airliner enables the A330 MRTT to excel in air-to-air refuelling missions without the need for any additional fuel tank.

Also on display, the scale mock up of the C295 in Maritime Patrol Aircraft configuration – a very robust and reliable, highly versatile tactical airlifter able to carry up to 9 tonnes of payload, at a maximum cruise speed of 480 km/h. Fitted with a retractable landing gear and a pressurised cabin, it can cruise at altitudes up to 25,000 ft, while retaining remarkable short take-off & landing (STOL) performance from unprepared, short, or soft airstrips, as well as excellent low level flight characteristics.

A scale mock up of the Astrobus S Earth observation satellite will be on show. The latest generation of Earth Observation Satellites for Very High Resolution (VHR) applications, it combines the advantages of a low-mass system (around 400 kg only) with the strong performance of a larger Earth observation satellite platform.

Turkey is a key partner for Airbus. With nearly 30 years of successful collaboration in civil and military aviation, Airbus is committed to long-term, mutually-beneficial industrial cooperation, working closer with its partners and customers as flag carrier Turkish Airlines, the Ministry of Defense and Presidency of Defense Industries, as well as Turkey’s air force, navy and coast guard.

10 tourists trapped by avalanches rescued in China’s Xinjiang

April 9, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

Ten people have been rescued Tuesday after being trapped by avalanches in a mountainous area in Changji, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to Xinjiang forest fire brigade.

They were rescued by two helicopters and transported to Urumqi, the regional capital of Xinjiang. Among them, two people who were lightly injured have been taken to the hospital.

The snowslide was first reported on Monday to hit a valley in Urumqi, but later confirmed to strike a grassland in the Ashili township in Changji, a city near Urumqi, said Urumqi’s fire brigade.

The rescue forces could not reach the site at around 3,500 meters above sea level as the avalanches blocked the road. The local emergency department asked for helicopters to join the rescue efforts.

According to the Xinjiang forest fire brigade, several people decided to climb mountains during the Tomb-sweeping Day holiday. They encountered avalanches on Saturday and got trapped.

Nepal Tourism Board CEO: Tourists not affected in deadly storm in remote southern plains

April 1, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

Tourists in Nepal are not affected in today’s deadly storm. The Nepal Prime minister KP Sharma Oli expressed his condolences in a tweet and said that as well as the 25 killed, around 400 were injured in the Bara District.

Deepak Ra Joshi, CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board told eTurboNews: ” This region is in south plain, close to the border with India. It’s not a tourist region and no tourists are hurt. The Government of Nepal is focused on rescue and treatment of those affected.”

Bara lies in Province No. 2. It is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. The district, with Kalaiya as its district headquarters, covers an area of 1,190 km² and has a population of 687,708. Bakaiya, Jamuniya, Pasaha, Dudhaura and Bangari are the main rivers of Bara.

Bara district is famous for the Gadhimai Temple, particularly as every five years it celebrates the Gadhimai Mela. The region is usually not on any visitors itineraries.

At least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured after stormy weather hit southern Nepal, destroying houses, uprooting trees and toppling electricity poles, officials said.

The thunderstorm swept through the district of Bara and adjoining areas late on Sunday (Mar 31), Bara’s police chief Sanu Ram Bhattarai said.

On Sunday night, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said rescue teams from Nepal Police, the Army, and the Armed Police Force had been deployed overnight. The government has been dispatching helicopters to the affected areas.

Meanwhile, hospitals in both districts have been overwhelmed by hundreds of injured. More than 200 victims have been admitted to Kalaiya Hospital, which has only five doctors on duty. The bodies of dead have been piling up at the Narayani Hospital, National Medical College and Healthcare Hospital in neighboring Birgunj district.

Passenger evacuation underway from Viking Sky cruise ship stranded off Norway

March 23, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

The cruise ship Viking Sky, which lost engine power and drifted towards land off Norway earlier on Saturday managed to start one of its engines and is now anchored 2km off the shore, Norwegian police say.

While initial reports indicated the ship had 1,300 passengers aboard, the ship operator’s website lists its capacity at 930, thus the figure appears to include the vessel’s crew.

Several helicopters and sea vessels have been dispatched to the location to evacuate people from the stalled ship.

The passengers were hoisted up one by one from the deck and airlifted to land, according to the rescue service, which said “it will take a long time” to evacuate everyone, if the need arises.

About 100 people were evacuated by 15:30 GMT, according to police.

Market Dynamics for Helicopters industry:

Helicopters are mainly used in disaster relief, military and defence, tourism, commercial applications. The deployment of helicopters in military and civil services on case of disaster relief is an important factor that drives the demand of helicopters. In addition, technological innovation in aircraft/ helicopters are main attraction that force the military and defence of every nation to adopt the helicopters with high technology. Helicopters are used in many other applications such as transportation in rescue area, monitoring traffic, to survey the landing places etc.

As compare to developing countries, the high technological adoption in developed countries like U.S., Canada, and France among others, the demand and production of helicopters with high features are more. The increasing demand of helicopters mainly from the developing regions like Middle East & Africa, Asia-Pacific, and South American countries are also driving the helicopters market. The emerging markets such as India, China, Brazil, Southeast Asia, and Japan are expected to change the trends and dynamics of the market in the future. High cost associated with new technology, and stringent regulatory norms for helicopter manufacturing and development are some of the factors restraining the growth of the helicopters market.

Furthermore, growing collaboration between global manufacturers, increased demand for technologically advanced war helicopters, tie-up between helicopters manufacturers and aviation colleges, increasing competition between manufacturers are the key drivers of the helicopters market. In March 2015, Airbus Helicopters introduced H160, a twin-engine medium class helicopter to provide the efficient solutions for its customers to safely carry passengers in the demanding environments. Recently in March 2018, Airbus announced the launching an on-demand helicopter booking service in Mexico City.
