Centara Hotels & Resorts makes food donation to the Thai Government’s Public Relations Department

May 14, 2020 by PressEditor

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hotel operator, recently donated 1,500 food boxes to the Thai Government’s Public Relations Department, as part of its ongoing efforts to help those communities and individuals most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The meals, which were prepared by a team of food and beverage staff at Centara’s flagship, Centara Grand at CentralWorld, were presented by General Manager of the hotel, Robert Maurer-Loeffler, to the Deputy Director-General of the Government Public Relations Department, Pichaya Muangnao. The meals were distributed to people impacted by COVID-19 and others needing assistance.

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing hardship for communities all across Thailand, and Centara is committed to providing help wherever we can. We hope our meal box donation to the Government Public Relations Department will bring some immediate relief to Thai people and those in need.

Centara recently launched Help the Heroes, an initiative designed to directly benefit health workers and vulnerable communities impacted by COVID-19. When a consumer buys a Centara cash voucher for a future escape, Centara will add a further 50% value to the purchase. Half will go to the buyer, with the value of the voucher being increased by 25% to help them get more out of their next adventure when it is safe to travel again.  And the other 25% will be made as a donation to those in need, with the customer able to choose which of the two charities Centara donates to. The company is also providing complimentary hotel accommodation and meals to healthcare workers, with Centara Grand at CentralWorld providing hotel rooms for medical staff from the Police General Hospital so that they can save travelling time and return to work as refreshed and recharged as possible.

November 12, 2019 by PressEditor

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hospitality company, has further strengthened its executive management team with the recent appointments of two highly experienced hotel industry professionals.

Tong, a native of Hong Kong with more than 25 years’ experience in hotel development and operations, has been appointed Chief Development Representative China and North Asia. Ms. Ramsay will report to Centara Deputy CEO Markland Blaiklock, while Mr. Tong will report to Centara Senior Vice President Business Development Andrew Langston.

“We’re delighted to welcome two executives with the breadth of experience Tabatha and Raymond bring to their respective new roles,” said Thirayuth Chirathivat, Chief Executive Officer, Centara Hotels & Resorts.  “Tabatha is well-equipped to help lead Centara to the next level of commercial success, while Raymond’s appointment bolsters the company’s ambitious development plans for Greater China and North Asia.”

Prior to joining Centara, Ms. Ramsay held a number of management positions with leading hotel groups, including: Area Director, Sales & Marketing at Intercontinental Hotels Group; VP Sales at Minor Group’s Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas; VP Sales, Marketing & Revenue at Oakwood Worldwide; and, more recently, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer at Vinpearl Hospitality Ltd.

Centara is in the middle of an exciting phase of development and growth which is guided by the company’s vision to be the leading global hospitality group of Thai origin. The plan includes doubling company revenues through substantially increasing its portfolio of properties and global presence, and by leveraging technology and people to optimise profitability. Centara and Al Bandary Sign Agreement for Two More Doha Hotels

August 20, 2019 by PressEditor

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hospitality group, signed a hotel management agreement for two new hotels owned by Al Bandary Hotel Management LLC.

The agreement represents the third and fourth Doha properties Centara will manage on behalf of Al Bandary, which also owns Centara West Bay Residences & Suites Doha, an upper upscale property that opened earlier this year and recently earned a 5-star official classification from the Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC); and the previously signed Centara Grand Hotel Doha scheduled for opening in 2020.

The B Premiere Hotel, a member of the Centara Boutique Collection, is a new 85-key boutique property located on Al Rawabi Street, within ten minutes’ drive from many of the city’s popular attractions, shopping malls and event venues, and 20 minutes by car from Hamad International Airport. The hotel is expected to open by the end of 2019.

The 167-key Centara Al Bustan Hotel Doha is currently under construction and is expected to open in the second quarter of 2021.

“We are very excited to be expanding our partnership with Al Bandary with our second and third Doha properties, following the successful launch of Centara West Bay Residences & Suites earlier this year. Doha is a key gateway city to the world and a strategic development destination for Centara, and the management and team at Al Bandary Hotel Management LLC are the perfect partners with whom to realize our growth plans in Qatar,” said Thirayuth Chirathivat, Chief Executive Officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts.

Mr. Ahmad Al Rayyan, Group General Manager of Al Bandary Management LLC, the hotel’s owner, commented, “We are delighted to be working with Centara for these exciting new projects. Their successful opening of the first Doha property is a testament to their expertise and professionalism, and we are looking forward to a successful collaboration on these new properties in the months and years ahead.”

The B Premiere Hotel will feature four room categories: City View, City View Suite King, Boutique Suite King, and Premiere Suite King. City View rooms range from 32–38 sqm, while suite accommodation measures 50–60 sqm. Every guestroom features a separate bathtub and rain shower.

The hotel’s dining venues will include Zing café on the lobby level; Celeste Bistro, offering all-day dining; and Sheesh Lebanese Grill, the hotel’s signature rooftop restaurant. The hotel will be equipped with a Cenfit fitness center; swimming pool with Jacuzzi; separate male and female spas with steam rooms and saunas; flexible meeting room space; and a Cense by Cenvaree spa.

Qatar’s strategic location at the crossroads of Asia, Europe and Africa has helped it become one of the world’s most prosperous economies, and one which continues to see robust growth and development — including a sustained upward trend in tourism and visitor arrivals, helped by easier visa requirements and a diverse calendar of visitor-friendly events and festivals.

Doha’s combination of the dynamic business environment, vast cultural attractions and recreational opportunities make it a highly attractive destination for business and leisure travelers as well as a popular host city for meetings, conventions and events — including the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

These newest additions to the company’s portfolio of properties takes Centara’s count of hotels in Doha to four, with a luxurious hotel also owned by Al Bandary Hotel Management LLC under the Centara Grand brand set to open in the first half of 2020.

Centara Marks Important Environmental Events with Beachfront Campaign and Plastic-hungry Sea Life Creatures

June 10, 2019 by PressEditor

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hotel operator, is marking this year’s World Environment Day (5th June) and Ocean Day (8th June) events with a month-long campaign to raise awareness of the scourge of plastic waste while encouraging guests and staff to join the effort to rid beaches of discarded plastic trash.

The initiative features sculpted sea creature-cum-trash-bins named POP — short for “Plastic Only, Please” — that guests can “feed” the plastic waste they pick up in and around the beach.

Pop will be popping up at 12 Centara properties around Thailand and Maldives. Each time the plastic-hungry sea life creatures fill up with collected plastic trash, Centara’s waste management teams will remove the contents, weigh the trash and prepare it for sorting and delivery to local recycling facilities. Rather than adding more plastic garbage to further exacerbate local land pollution and fill nearby landfills, these plastic eating creatures will provide a first-line waste management filter, diverting reusable plastic materials to be recycled into new items instead of going straight to the garbage.

Centara Signs MOU with KMA Hotels for Six Myanmar Hotels

May 15, 2019 by PressEditor

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hotel operator, and KMA Hotels Group, a subsidiary of Kaung Myanmar Aung (KMA) Group of Companies, have announced the signing of a MOU to begin the development and renovation of 6 hotels located at some of Myanmar’s most popular tourist destinations, all to be managed under Centara brands. Work on the project will begin in 2019.

This project will see three of KMA Hotels’ existing properties located in Inle, Naypyitaw, and Taungoo undergo refurbishment prior to reopening, and the development of 3 new hotels in Bagan and Than Daung. The 3 new hotels are Centara Bagan River View Resort & Spa Kaytumadi Dynasty Bagan Resort, Centara Boutique Collection and Shwe Than Daung Resort, Centara Boutique Collection. All six hotels will operate under the upscale and upper upscale Centara and Centara Boutique Collection brands. The Centara Paradise Inle Lake Resort & Spa will open its doors in Q4 of this year.

The deal marks Centara’s entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing tourism markets and enables the company to secure a major Myanmar foothold.

“Our partnership with KMA Hotels represents a significant milestone for Centara,” said Thirayuth Chirathivat, Centara’s CEO. “It gives us the opportunity to establish a significant presence for Centara in a country with huge potential for tourism development, and we are looking forward to contributing to Myanmar’s development while providing travellers with more options to enjoy our Thai-inspired, international standard of hospitality across a variety of destinations.”

KMA Group of Companies is a privately held company founded and led by Chairman U Khin Maung Aye, Chairman of CB Bank. The Group comprises 15 corporate entities operating across a diverse range of industries.

“We are delighted that Centara will be bringing their management expertise and and strong brand to six of Myanmar’s most popular destinations,” said U Kaung Htet Tun, Managing Director of KMA Group. “Myanmar shows great potential for tourism growth, and Centara’s presence here represents a step forward for the Hotel and Tourism industries.”

Myanmar is the second largest country in Southeast Asia and boasts one of the region’s fastest-growing economies. The country’s tourism sector is well-placed for a sustained period of growth; the country’s anticipated tourism growth rate of 8.5% annually through 2025 puts Myanmar at the top of the world’s fastest-growing tourism markets.

The six Myanmar hotels are further proof of Centara’s expansion strategy, which calls for doubling the number of properties under its management by 2022, and the complementing expertise of Centara and master developers KMA Group are set to elevate the Myanmar hospitality scene.

Record turn-out for Centara World Masters 2019 as golf tourism continues to soar in Thailand

May 2, 2019 by PressEditor

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hotel operator, has revealed that a record number of competitors from around the world will compete at this year’s Centara World Masters Golf Championship, which returns to Hua Hin this summer.

This acclaimed annual tournament will be hosted from 9th to 15th June 2019, gathering more than 500 amateur golfers from approximately 50 countries to this famous seaside town on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. Competitors will come from many of Thailand’s most important visitor source markets, including the UK, Australia, China, Singapore and Hong Kong, providing a major boost to the tourism economy.

Guests will be hosted at Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin, the stunning beachfront heritage resort which dates from 1927 and is one of the country’s most famous and historic hotels.

“Centara is a proud supporter of golfers around the world. The global golf tourism sector is booming and Thailand is a major part of its success. The kingdom now offers a large collection of world-class courses, many designed by the sport’s most famous names. With its idyllic climate, stunning scenery and highly accessible location just a short drive from Bangkok, Hua Hin is the perfect destination for golfers in search of a tropical escape,” said David Martens, GM & Corporate Director of Operations Hua Hin, Krabi, Samui & Vietnam, Centara Hotels & Resorts.

“We look forward to welcoming all competitors to Hua Hin for the Centara World Masters this summer, and allowing them to experience our luxurious accommodation, facilities and timeless Thai hospitality. In future, we hope to attract many more golfers and their families to stay at our expanding worldwide collection of hotels and resorts,” he added.

2019 will mark the sixth consecutive edition of the Centara World Masters, and this year event will be bigger and better than ever, with a full week-long schedule of tournaments, dinners, social events and day tours.

Players will enjoy one round each at four of Hua Hin’s leading courses: Springfield Royal Country Club, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus; Black Mountain Golf Club, which was named as one of the “100 Best Courses in the World” by Golf Digest magazine; Banyan Golf Club, which Asian Golf Monthly selected as its “Best New Course in Asia Pacific”; and Lake View Resort & Golf Club, an Asian Tour venue.

With such an impressive selection of courses, it is little wonder that Hua Hin was named as the “Golf Destination of the Year” for Asia in 2019 by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO).

After each day’s play, all golfers will gather back at Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin to celebrate the day’s winners with “19th Hole” festivities, including exquisite Thai cuisine and refreshing beverages. The five-star resort will also host a welcome gala dinner on the opening night and poolside presentations later in the week.

Centara operates an extensive collection of hotels and resorts in many of Thailand’s leading golf tourism destinations, including Bangkok, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai as well as other havens such as Danang, Vietnam and Muscat, Oman. It is also expanding its portfolio into many other international golfing hotspots, such as China and the UAE. By sponsoring the Centara World Masters Golf Championship once again, Centara is reiterating its deep commitment to golf tourism in Hua Hin, Thailand and across the globe.

Centara identifies technological and social trends that will shape the hospitality industry in the next 10 years

April 18, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

Global hospitality is at a crossroads. In the last 20 years, technology has transformed every aspect of the guest journey, from online bookings to in-room services to post-stay feedback. But as technology continues to evolve and advance, what will the hotel industry look like 10 years in the future?

In the past, digitalization was largely driven by companies, as new solutions were introduced to enhance efficiency and target customers more effectively. In the modern era however, it is customers who are demanding greater connectivity. This is especially true in the hotel industry, which is driven by modern lifestyle trends and the “always-on” mindset of millennial travelers.

In light of these trends, Markland Blaiklock, Centara’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, explains his vision for the future of the hospitality industry in the next decade:

“Ten years from now, I’m sure we will look back and see that the hospitality industry changed much more than predicted, and Asia will continue to be a major catalyst for change. This evolution will be part social and part technological, but the overall goal will be the same: to meet and exceed guests’ expectations,” he commented.

According to Mr. Blaiklock, Centara foresees three significant trends shaping its business, and the entire industry, going forward:

Travel and work life will become inseparable thanks to improved technology and faster connectivity. This trend will occur in all countries but will be led by China and the rest of Asia, which are currently driving the growth in overseas travel. The launch of Centara’s new “Meetings Redesigned” MICE initiative will help to accommodate this shift, by allowing companies to be more flexible and creative with their event agendas.

Robotics and artificial intelligence will create hyper-connected hotel experiences. The Internet of Things (IoT) will seamlessly connect every hotel touchpoint, which will be personalized to the unique preferences every guest. In addition, big data insights will enable hotel staff to improve service quality in real time.

Delivering emotional experiences will be the ultimate goal of hotels. As technology takes over, many guests will go in search of authenticity, human interaction and genuine hospitality. The ability to predict and identify human emotions will be key to the success of hotels in the coming decades.

The big question for hoteliers now and in the future will be: how do we successfully integrate technology to improve the guest’s entire journey, whilst also retaining our distinct personality and brand loyalty?

For Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hotel operator, this balance is at the core of its strategic vision. In the coming years decades, the group will focus delivering warm Thai hospitality in line with the latest social and technological trends to create exceptional customer experiences.

Centara has proven adept at developing new brands that embrace innovation. The most recent example is COSI, which caters for young-minded and tech-savvy travelers with friendly, simple and affordable accommodation and state-of-the-art amenities like smartphone integration, self-service check-in and a 24-hour lifestyle café concept. It is no surprise that this contemporary concept, which made its debut in Koh Samui in 2017, is now a key driving force behind Centara’s expansion strategy.

In many ways, COSI represents the future of hospitality. Its combination of connectivity, comfort and convenience enables guests to blend business and leisure travel, a key trend identified by Mr. Blaiklock. Across all of Centara’s six brands however, the group continues to roll out innovative new digital experiences.

Recent initiatives range from revamping the Centara website and mobile app for a seamless online experience, to launching a new central reservation system and revenue management system for global coordination. The new Chinese language, China-hosted website, social media pages and payment solutions are also positioning Centara to compete successfully in the world’s largest travel market.

Technology, however, is only one element of a successful strategy. Hotel guests will always be human beings, and the majority of humans visit a destination to experience its charm and culture, not to look at a screen. For Centara, the ability to deliver authentic Thai hospitality is something that can never be replaced by technology. By harnessing big data and personalization tools however, hoteliers can enhance every human interaction. Intuitive and rewarding loyalty programs like CentaraThe1 will play a major part in anticipating and delivering tailored experiences.

So digitalization really is the key; by using smart technology to identify and satisfy guest preferences, the hoteliers of the future will be able to create truly bespoke experiences for every guest.

Centara Hotels & Resorts is Thailand’s leading hotel operator. Its 68 properties span all major Thai destinations plus the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Laos, China, Oman, Qatar and the UAE. Centara’s portfolio comprises six brands -Centara Grand Hotels & Resorts, Centara Hotels & Resorts, Centara Boutique Collection, Centra by Centara, Centara Residences & Suites and COSI Hotels – ranging from 5-star city hotels and luxurious island retreats to family resorts and affordable lifestyle concepts supported by innovative technology.
