The operations would be activated as of December 2019; date at which the private island in Seychelles will start operating as ‘North Island, a Luxury Collection Resort’, through a franchise agreement.

The resort will be the first hotel in the portfolio of newly launched ASMALLWORLD Hotel Collection. North Island, one of the globe’s leading private islands, is a unique addition to the collection, which makes its debut in Seychelles.

North Island would be joining The Luxury Collection brand portfolio alongside more than 100 hotels and resorts in over 35 countries and territories adding on to the Seychelles profile as an exclusive destination.

Speaking about this new milestone for the destination, Seychelles Tourism Board Chief Executive (STB) Mrs. Sherin Francis, conveyed her satisfaction at Seychelles affiliated to such

“North Island writing its name down on the exclusive social networking website such as ASMALLWORLD definitely raises the profile of the destination and increases its visibility vis-à-vis a very high-end clientele. One of our goal remains to rebuild the destination’s image of an exclusive experience for our visitors. This affiliation is definitely applauded by the STB, as it is our belief that it will definitely contribute positively towards the destination, “said Mrs. Francis

“North Island is the perfect fit for a brand that stands for such exclusive luxury, while recognising the importance of sustainable development, and we look forward to building on the position of the island as one of the world’s most aspirational private-island destinations,” said Mr. Simpson.

He also paid tribute to Wilderness Safaris, the Southern African ecotourism company who first created and then developed the island and who has played an invaluable contribution to the evolution of North Island since its inception in 1997.

“We look forward to their continued support as a partner, as The Luxury Collection further strengthens the Island’s position in the global luxury travel market,” said Mr. Simpson.

Located 27 kilometers north-west of Mahé, the island resort is an exclusive eco-tourism establishment that is only accessible by helicopter. It is often the hideaway of celebrities – the island welcomed newly-weds Prince William and Kate Middleton for their honeymoon.
