WASHINGTON, Feb. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — From the speech he gave on the Senate floor rebuking President Trump’s repeated attacks on the media back in January, to his op-ed in The Washington Post criticizing his colleagues in Congress over their failure to pass DACA legislation earlier this week, to his announcement just yesterday that he is backing a bipartisan bill to raise the minimum age required to buy a semi-automatic rifle, Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) has earned a reputation for being one of the most reliably outspoken legislators in Washington.
On Thursday, March 15, Senator Flake will keep his frank and forthright record going by delivering a speech entitled “Truth, Falsehoods, and the Dangerous State of Our Politics: A Way Forward,” at a National Press Club Headliners Luncheon.
Senator Flake has served as the junior US Senator from Arizona since 2013. Prior to his election to the Senate, Flake served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001-2013 representing Arizona’s first district. As a member of the U.S. Senate, Senator Flake sits on the Judiciary Committee (where he also serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology and the Law), the Energy and Natural Resources Committee (where he also serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Water and Power), and the Foreign Relations Committee (where he also serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on African Affairs).
Lunch will be served in the club’s Holeman Lounge at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for National Press Club members (members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $39 for all other non-member tickets. For all ticketing-related questions, please email [email protected]. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
