Palani Murugan Temple is situated at a height of 450 feet above ground level.  Palani Murugan is a pilgrimage to the devotees’ prayers and devotees.  Over time, Palani hill temple has not only the other district tourists of Tamilnadu but also the northern states and overseas tourists.

To reach the top there are few options, using the 693 steps to the top – which a normal person will take 20 to 30 min to reach the top.   For the convenience of tourists and pilgrims, the temple has a winch cars as well as cable car facility to travel around the hill to reach the temple.

In the temple, the devotees pray for Lord Murugan to fulfill their wishes.   Important festivals, Palani Murugan Temple is famous for its festivals.  The festival is celebrated annually by Thaipusam, Mar Uthiram, and Sundaramaharam.  Thousands of pilgrims especially in the festival of Thaipusam are coming from all over Tamil Nadu to visit this temple.  The Golden Chariot is a specialty in this temple.

If you are planning to reach by train – A rail line through Palani station, stretching Madurai to Coimbatore via Pollachi is available.  Now Tiruchendur to Palani via Madurai, Chennai central – Palani Express, operating on this line is functioning.  The Murugan Temple is about 2km from the railway station and can be reached by auto rickshaw or bus.

By bus, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Limited TNSTC buses connect the town to other parts of the state.

By Air, the nearest major airports are Madurai airport located 100 kilometers from Palani and Coimbatore International Airport located at 105 kilometers from Palani.

The three temples – Palani Malai Temple, Paniayani Temple and Thiruvinankudi Temple – are open from 6 am to 9 pm daily.
