ORANGE, Calif., Feb. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — The Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® recently launched the California Everyday Discounts program, offering year-round savings on train travel for seniors, students, and passengers with disabilities. The Pacific Surfliner route serves San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo, connecting nearly 3 million passengers a year to many of Southern California’s top destinations.
“We are committed to enhancing the connectivity of the communities we serve and are excited to launch the California Everyday Discounts program to help make passenger rail service as accessible as possible,” said Bryan MacDonald, chairman of the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency, which oversees the Pacific Surfliner service.
The program was developed in coordination with the state’s two other intercity rail services and has been launched on the tails of Amtrak’s recent changes to its nationwide everyday discounts.
“While it’s important for us to increase ridership and improve farebox cost recovery for our service, we are proud to be able to maintain the best possible fares for our passengers who have come to rely on these discounts,” MacDonald said.
