Tourism Seychelles, together with the help of the Seychelles Honorary Consul in Tokyo, attended the Marine Diving Fair held in Tokyo.
The Tokyo Marine Diving Fair, which took place at the Sunshine City Convention Center from April 7-9, 2023, targeting both trades and consumers, is one of the largest and most anticipated scuba diving events in the diving and marine sports industry in Japan. The three-day event brought together diving trade partners, divers and enthusiasts, equipment manufacturers, and industry experts from all over Japan.
The event attracted thousands of visitors who had the opportunity to explore various diving destinations, the latest equipment and technology, and attend informative seminars on marine conservation and diving locations from around the world.
The Marine Diving Fair also served as a platform for industry professionals to network and showcase their products and services. Exhibitors included tourism boards, dive resorts, training organizations, and equipment manufacturers from around the globe.
In an interview, Mr. Jean-Luc Lai-Lam, Director for Japan from Tourism Seychelles, emphasized the significance of the Marine Diving Fair for the Seychelles diving market and the tourism market.
“The Marine Diving Fair is a great opportunity for us to showcase the beauty and diversity of Seychelles’ underwater world to the Japanese audiences.”

Mr. Lai-Lam added, “It allows us to connect with diving enthusiasts and industry professionals and promote Seychelles as a premier diving destination.”
Tourism Seychelles also highlighted the importance of sustainable diving practices and marine conservation.
“Seychelles is committed to promoting sustainable diving practices and preserving its marine environment with already 30% of its territorial waters designated as marine protected areas,” said Mr. Lai-Lam. “The Marine Diving Fair provides us with a platform to showcase our efforts in this regard and to not only promote Seychelles as a diving destination but also as a responsible and sustainable diving destination to our Japanese audiences.”
