Jamaica Reports Strong Arrivals Increase in First Quarter of 2024

Jamaica has announced an 11% increase in arrivals in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the first quarter of 2023. This demand for one of the world’s leading island travel destinations further exemplifies its projection to welcome 5 million visitors by 2025.

“We’ve had an excellent start to the year, already welcoming a record-breaking 2.4 million visitors to-date,” said Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism, Jamaica. “These first quarter results demonstrate how hard-working our tourism community is and how our collective efforts to construct a resilient tourism product continue to drive our economy.”

The “One Love” island reported a strong start in the first quarter of 2024 with 781,081 stopover visitors, representing a 6.4% increase in stopover arrivals compared to the same period in 2023. Demand from the U.S. remained firm with a .9% increase in stopover arrivals in March 2024 compared to March 2023, with the strongest interest from the South (4.2%+) and Midwest (2.1%+). In Q1 2024, the U.S. also saw a 3.2% increase in overall market performance compared to Q1 2023 and a 39.9% increase in market performance compared to Q1 2022 – an indicator of the island’s strong post-pandemic bounce back.
