Guam Welcomes Taiwan Visitors on Starlux

Starlux Airlines Charter Flights Bring Visitors to Guam for Lunar New Year.

The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) is pleased to announce the arrival of charter flights by Starlux Airlines from Taiwan for the Lunar New Year holiday. On Saturday January 25, Guam welcomed the first of four charter flights, an Airbus A321neo aircraft carrying a full load of 179 visitors from Taipei. The second flight arrived on Sunday January 26 carrying 171 passengers. GVB greeted both full flights with New Year gift bags containing Guam branded hats, cooling towel, sunglasses, and special Made-in-Guam snacks. Passengers were delighted to receive the warm Håfa Adai welcome and enjoyed Chamorro music while taking photos with “Kiko” the Ko’ko’ Bird mascot. A special meal coupon program was offered to all passengers to provide added value and the opportunity to dine at one of the following hotel properties: Dusit Beach Resort Guam, Dusit Thani Guam Resort, Guam Plaza Resort, Hotel Nikko Guam, Pacific Islands Club Guam, and The Tsubaki Tower.

Starlux Airlines is Taiwan’s newest carrier founded by K.W. Chang, who has grown the airline from its 3-city inaugural launch in 2020 to becoming Taiwan’s most popular luxury airline flying to 28 cities in the Asia Pacific and the US. Although Starlux Airlines does not have regular flights to Guam, many Taiwan travel agencies, like Phoenix Tours, Spunk Tours, and Lion Travel, have developed good relationships to sell destination Guam. The travel agents took the lead in creating Guam packages with Starlux Airlines and the six participating hotels in Guam for the Lunar New Year holiday season.

“GVB is grateful to work with them and our friends from Phoenix Tours, SpunkTours, and Lion Travel for including Guam as an option for their holiday destinations. We wanted to kick off our visitors’ stay with an island-style arrival experience and highly encourage our Guam residents and industry partners to show them the best that our island has to offer,” stated GVB Acting President and CEO Dr. Gerry Perez.

Two more flights will arrive in Guam at 3:55pm on Wednesday, January 29 and Thursday, January 30, 2025.
