Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network Hosts 5th Annual Veteran Shark Tank

Celebrity chef and Royal Navy veteran, Robert Irvine of Food Network’s “Restaurant: Impossible” will attend as the keynote speaker and Comcast will be the presenting sponsor.

“The Veteran Shark Tank competition will allow veteran entrepreneurs to sharpen their business pitch, gain feedback from business leaders, compete for a cash prize of $10,000, in-kind business support services, and create a veteran network for life as they launch their new venture,” said Alex Archawski, Navy veteran and founder of GPVN and the Veteran Shark Tank. “Many of our sponsors are here to support our veteran community and build relationships with up-and-coming veteran leaders. They also look forward to watching emerging veteran business leaders compete and be part of an inspiring evening.”

Last year, NeuroFlow, a digital health company dedicated to aiding mental health professionals through the tracking of biometric data, took home the winning title. Other notable contestants on the show include:

  • Stephanie Siraco, Navy veteran and CEO of “SKFitLife.com” a coaching and lifestyle company dedicated to performance.
  • Mike Maher, Navy veteran and co-founder of Houwzer, a Philadelphia-based brokerage.
  • William J. Belknap Sr., Army veteran and founder of AEONRG LLC, a limited liability company focused on facility maintenance, repair, and operations company.

“Participating in the 2016 GPVN Shark Tank event paid credence to the fact that the veteran community and the support we have for each other transcends the years we served together,” said Chris Molaro Army veteran, CEO and co-founder of NeuroFlow. “Aside from the competition, Veteran Shark Tank gave our business the opportunity to make connections and forge relationships that continue to be fruitful.”

It is a team effort to bring this event to life. Among the board members who have volunteered time to prescreen contestants is previous Veteran Shark Tank contestant JDog Junk Removal & Hauling, a national franchise organization dedicated to providing business ownership opportunities to veterans and relatives of veterans. The company has awarded more than 300 territories in 35 states and has a 10-year plan to have 10,000 veterans working within the JDog system.
