COSH 2019: The Cape Occupational Safety & Health Trade Expo and Conference

The Inaugural COSH 2019 came about due to the need for a Cape based Occupational Safety & health event where all the sectors are included. The intention is to make it an annual event relevant to the commerce and industries of the Cape. Sectors such as agriculture, fishing, mining, construction in building and roads, engineering, education and training, unions and government.

 

The Conference event will have top internationally renowned experts unpacking the legal frameworks of OSH. The topics will range from ISO 45001, the value of Health & Safety Policy, Safety Audits vs. Inspections, changing the workplace safety culture, risk assessment approach and so many more topics.

 

The Exhibition will allocate space for 40 exhibitors to showcase their products and interact and network with quality delegates as well as visitors. Exhibitors will be from Disaster Management, First Aid services, Health & Safety Consultancies, Lifting & Handling equipment, Noise monitoring and prevention, Occupational Health services, Personnel Protective Equipment, Safety Signs and Posters, Safety related software, Training, Hazardous materials storage and handling.etc.

 

Visitors will be H&S Directors, H&S Management, H&S Assistant, Company owner/Managing Director, Engineers.

 

Our chairman Mr. Ron C. McKinnon will be chairing the event for the first day of the Conference.

The Co-chairman will be Dr. Corrie Loots, whom will chair Breakaway Session 2 on day 2.

 

Ron C. McKinnon, CSP, is an internationally experienced and acknowledged safety professional. He has been extensively involved in international research concerning the cause, effect, and control of accidental loss, near-miss reporting, accident investigation, and safety culture change for the last 42 years. He recently completed a 2-year assignment at the Saudi Electricity Company where he assisted in implementing a worlds-best-practice Safety Management System.

 

Dr. Corrie Loots

A mature, healthy and diligent result-oriented Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) professional, with 35+ years’ experience, displaying exemplary safety behavior with the highest standard of safety etiquette. Offering a Master’s Degree (Occupational Health, Safety & Environment) with a proven track record, providing hands-on strategic direction business and technical acumen, gained successfully developing, planning, leading implementation, auditing and continuously improving sustainable International Integrated Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality (OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001) and Security Management Systems. Demonstrable leadership in diverse multi-culturally environments, facilitating multi-disciplined team projects and group interfaces within large infrastructure construction project executions and completions (15y), High Risk complex industries:- petro-chemical(15y), oil & gas(15y), pipelines(15y), power generation/transmission/ distribution/renewables and infrastructure(15y), mining(15y), rail (Metro & Freight) infrastructure & maintenance(15y), ports infrastructure(15y), iron & steel(15y), refineries & smelters(15y), fleet and facilities(15y).
