Best Time to Visit Turks and Caicos?

That’s an easy question. The answer is – any time! The weather is always welcoming and getting there is easy. And during the year, Turks and Caicos have various festivals and events that will immerse the visitor in authentic experiences, rich culture, and unending enjoyment.

Upon arrival in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), visitors must show a valid passport. They must also have a valid onward or return ticket. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended departure date. As of 2024, regular passport holders from 76 countries visiting Turks and Caicos for tourism purposes do not require a visa and will be granted permission for short-term stay on arrival.

Arriving by Air

International commercial flights enter the Turks and Caicos Islands at the Providenciales International Airport (PLS). Other domestic airports in the Sister Islands include JAGS McCartney International Airport in Grand Turk, North Caicos Airport, South Caicos Airport, Salt Cay Airport, Pine Cay Airport, Ambergris Cay Harold Charles International Airport, and Cockburn Harbor Airport. There are currently direct flights to PLS from many major United States cities, as well as the United Kingdom, Canada, and several Caribbean countries. Inter-island travel is available through local airlines Caicos Express and InterCaribbean Airways.

Arriving by Sea

Most visitors to the Turks and Caicos Islands arrive via cruise ship. Grand Turk is home to a state-of-the-art luxury cruise ship center which was awarded Best Caribbean Beach Port by Porthole Magazine in 2019. The Grand Turk Cruise Center consists of a 3000-foot pier, the welcome facility and the recreational area. The Turks and Caicos Islands is also a sought-after yachting destination with several impressive full-service marina facilities. Owing to its ideal geographic location in relation to Florida, the islands serve as a ‘gateway to the Caribbean’ for many mariners. Inter-island travel is available through local ferry TCI Ferry.

Getting Around

There are quite a few modes of transportation in which tourists can get around. From taxi services, renting a car, moped, scooter, and golf cart to riding a bicycle. Many hotels also offer shuttle services, especially to and from the airport.

The legal currency for the Turks and Caicos Islands is the US dollar. The Turks and Caicos Islands boasts multiple banking institutions located throughout the islands, and most stores or places of business accept major credit cards. There are also ATMs found throughout the islands.

Island Hopping

Visitors are encouraged to island hop and explore Turks & Caicos’ Sister Islands which are easily accessible by ferry or short flight. Crystalline turquoise waters and white sand beaches are trademarks of the over 40 islands and cays that make up the “Beautiful by Nature” Turks and Caicos Islands. Considered the world’s best kept secret, the TCI are an easy escape – with an ease of connectivity from Miami, New York, Toronto, or London. Each island and cay in the archipelago is a destination in its own right.
