One month left to enter Ageless Authors senior writing contest

DALLAS, Jan. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Senior writers age 65 and older have just one month to prove that creative excellence is possible at any age. Wednesday, February 28 is the deadline for older writers to submit their work to the nationwide Ageless Authors Writing Contest.

Ageless Authors is the only group that promotes senior writers exclusively and the annual writing contest is the only nationwide competition for that group. Professional and amateur writers can submit short stories, essays, and poetry based on the following topics:

Military Memories
— Dang I Wish I Hadn’t Done That
— Parents, For Better or Worse.

To learn more about these categories or submit your work, go to agelessauthors.com/current-contests. Each submission must be entered online, and there is an entry fee of $20 for each submission.

Cash prizes will be awarded in each category and the winners will receive personalized certificates. Outstanding entries will be published in the second edition of Ageless Authors Anthology next fall. The first Anthology is now available at AgelessAuthors.com, Amazon.com and other booksellers.

“Great storytelling is rewarded,” says Larry Upshaw, Editorial Director of Ageless Authors. “Writers are encouraged to think broadly about the categories. For instance, military memories could be life on the home front or how you avoided the military as much as stories of battle. The parent category could be you and your parents, you and your child or a story from your imagination. There are few limits to what you can enter.”

Upshaw says Dang, I Wish I Hadn’t Done That is the most interesting topic. It’s about regrets that we all have, about paths taken that maybe shouldn’t have been, and how you, your friends and family, or characters from your imagination handled the situation.

“So far, not that many writers have recognized the potential of this topic for humor or irony,” he says. “Last year the number and diversity of entries was stunning. The quality of this year’s entries is very high, but writers who spend the next few weeks honing their work will have an excellent chance at recognition.”
