Seychelles Challenge: A World-Class Sailing Event Unveiled

Seychelles is set to make waves in the international sailing community with the official launch of the Seychelles Challenge, a premier 7-day, 6-night sailing event that aims to redefine the archipelago’s position on the global sailing map.

Taking place from July 20 to 27, the unique regatta will bring together experienced sailors, enthusiasts, and visitors for an unforgettable maritime adventure across Seychelles’ breathtaking islands.

The official announcement, held at Eden Bleu Hotel, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, was attended by key stakeholders in the tourism and maritime sectors, including Mrs. Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for Tourism; Mr. Hylton Hale, Co-Founder of Global Events & Race Director of The Seychelles Challenge; Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Marketing at Tourism Seychelles; Mr. Guillaume Albert, CEO of Creole Travel Services; Mr. Alain Alcindor of the Seychelles Sailing Association; and Captain Edwin Constance of the Seychelles Coast Guard.

Organized in Seychelles by WorldSport and Tourism Seychelles in collaboration with Creole Travel Services, ABSA Seychelles, Air Seychelles, Airtel, and Eden Bleu, among others, the Seychelles Challenge is designed as an exhilarating flotilla experience, featuring daily sailing challenges across some of Seychelles’ most breathtaking islands. The event will position Seychelles as a world-class sailing destination, drawing experienced sailors, enthusiasts, and travelers alike. Participants will have the option to race their own vessels or charter catamarans—either with or without a skipper—through key partner Sunsail.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Hylton Hale highlighted Seychelles as the ideal host because of both its stunning setting and its favorable weather conditions. He said:
