Seychelles well welcomed and promoted at highly-reputable school in Abu Dhabi

Seychelles Tourism Board’s (STB) office in Abu Dhabi provided students, parents and teachers with the chance to learn more about Seychelles through their presence at the British School Al Khubairat (BSAK) Abu Dhabi International Fête on February 23, 2019.

The small group of Seychellois students attending the BSAK co-educational school were very proud to guide their friends to the STB stall, where they learned about Seychelles’ UNESCO world heritage trademark the famous and unique Coco-de-Mer. Comers to the stand had the chance to take part in a quiz, where winners received STB sponsored giveaway bags.

This is the first time that STB takes part in the BSAK Abu Dhabi International Fête.

Organised by the school’s Parents and Teachers Association, this year’s event was put together to celebrate the school 50th anniversary. BSAK is one of the most reputable schools in Abu Dhabi.

The BSAK Abu Dhabi is composed of students from over 50 different nationalities, greatly exposing Seychelles as a destination during the daylong event. STB’s representative and tourism attaché in Abu Dhabi, Ms. Aliette Esther, said such school events are a wonderful place to promote the exotic destination of Seychelles.

“You get to interact and share knowledge about your country with the students, teachers and parents.  The consumers can learn more about the destination and they can share their experiences with you too. With more than 1900 students, 120 teachers plus the parents, you can target a lot of people at the same time,” said Ms. Esther.

Despite its small size, the 115-island archipelago was well represented through its stand which stood strong and proud alongside 19 other bigger countries – Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, Russia, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia, Jamaica, Ethiopia, Philippines, Pakistan, The Netherlands, China, UAE, India and Italy.

Alexander Faure, a student at BSAK, and his parents Alex and Francoise Faure, also attended the stand.

Most visitors to the stand took home a little token to remember the country by – a small souvenir from Seychelles. Most importantly, they received valuable information about the destination. 

A lot of visitors, who had already been to the Seychelles, enthusiastically recounted the memorable times spent on the islands recalling even the names of the restaurants they ate at and the number of dives they went on during their stay.  One visitor demonstrated his expert knowledge on all the dive sites he had been to and could very well write a guidebook about diving in the Seychelles.
