CTL Releases the PX1 Correctional Education Semi-Rugged Laptop

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — CTL, a Portland-based company specializing in comprehensive computing solutions for education and government agencies, announced today from the CES show the release of the CTL PX1 Correctional Education Semi-Rugged Laptop.

This Semi-Rugged PX1 Laptop for Correctional Education has been thought out and designed with safety and security in mind. From the exclusion of a web camera to an optional Wi-Fi connection, inmates are able to access only the educational programs available offline through the correctional facility.

On the outside, the semi-rugged body of the unit has a clear back and security screws which prevent access to internal components. This unit features a removable keyboard which allows the laptop to be inspected for hidden objects. The 11.6″ 1366 x 768 screen is protected by a semi-rugged laptop shell and non-slip texture. On the inside, this powerful device has the Intel Atom Processor with 4GB DDR 3L RAM and 64GB solid-state drive. The PX1 also boasts up to 8 hours of battery life ensuring that the device stays working all day until it’s ready to be charged at night.

“At CTL, education is a strong focus from 1:1 Education solutions in K-12 schools across the country to the ability for inmates to obtain a GED and increase their opportunity for success upon release. The PX1 was designed to fulfill a need for inmates to receive an education while maintaining the highest standards of safety and security.” – Erik Stromquist, President of CTL

CTL has worked with the Washington State Community and Technical Colleges to put the semi-rugged PX1 Correctional Education laptop to the test, helping inmates receive their GED through correctional education.
