Studying Abroad: Chinese Students, Parents Part Ways

This departure moment—captured on video at the airport—has been viewed more than two million times, bringing many viewers to tears with its portrayal of Chinese students saying goodbye to their parents as they leave to study abroad.

“Although it is China-specific, the message is universal and is resonating with a worldwide audience,” says Jobert Abueva, Senior Director, TOEFL Marketing. “We wanted to home in on that pivotal moment when students and parents part ways before the study abroad journey starts in earnest, something many of us, as former international students can relate to.”

The new video from the TOEFL® program has been posted on the TOEFL pages of Sina Weibo, WeChat, and Youku for Chinese viewers. In addition, a version with English captions is posted to Facebook®, LinkedIn® and the TOEFL® TV channel on YouTube.
