Woodforest National Bank And TACDC Award $17K In Recovery Grants For Two Houston-area Community Development Organizations

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Woodforest National Bank and the Texas Association of Community Development Corporations (TACDC) recently awarded $17,000 in small business recovery grants to two Houston-area community development organizations affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Woodforest and TACDC worked together to identify two organizations that provide small business and workforce development services that were proactively responding to disaster recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Both SER-Jobs for Progress and Houston Business Development, Inc. were selected as the grant recipients. Each organization received an $8,500 grant for repair and/or rebuilding efforts. The grants are part of Woodforest’s ongoing endeavors to assist organizations to rebuild due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.

“Working with TACDC to support workforce development and small business in Houston aligns with Woodforest’s community development strategic initiatives and is a win-win for us, TACDC and the grant recipients. It’s energizing to team up with organizations like TACDC to create a positive impact for organizations that share our goal for investing in our communities,” said Woodforest National Bank CRA Executive Director and EVP Doug Schaeffer.

“The community partnership between The Texas Association of Community Development Corporations and Woodforest National Bank is a strong one, and on behalf of the TACDC board of directors, I want to thank Woodforest for their support of our members working on the ground to help small businesses recover from Hurricane Harvey,” said Matt Hull, Executive Director, TACDC. He continued, “Through this community partnership, we can get small businesses the support they need to get back on their feet and continue to grow.”

The grant presentation took place during TACDC’s Empowering Texas Communities 2018 Conference in Galveston, Texas on March 5. This event brought together Texas businesses, community leaders and non-profit organizations to combat the state’s ongoing affordable housing issues.
