Brookfield Place New York To Host 5 Borough Challenge: Best Brews Of NYC

NEW YORK, Feb. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — On Thursday evenings from February 22^nd to March 15^th, craft beer will be celebrated at Brookfield Place New York, as the iconic Winter Garden transforms into a classic biergarten showcasing 14 of New York City’s top breweries at the 5 Borough Challenge: Best Brews of NYC. Each week from 4pm to 9pm, the Winter Biergarten will highlight local breweries’ craft offerings paired with food, live music, and classic bar games, all to benefit Brookfield Place’s charitable partner, New Yorkers for Parks.

A brewery from each borough will be featured every week of the festival. Visitors will be invited to cast their vote for their favorite beer to help determine which five breweries (all five boroughs will be represented) will make it to the final round on Thursday, March 15^th. On that night, the People’s Choice winner will be decided by the event’s attendees, and the Juror’s Choice winner will be determined by a panel comprised of a few of New York City’s most notable beer connoisseurs, including Anne Becerra (the first woman in New York City to become a Certified Cicerone), Josh Bernstein, Danny McDonald, and Zach Mack. The emcee for the final event will be beverage expert Ethan Fixell, who writes for publications such as Food & Wine and Tasting Table, and teaches beer, wine, and spirits classes throughout New York City.

The Best Brews of NYC event series is free to attend with food from Brookfield Place eateries such as Le District, Parm, Amada, or PJ Clarke’s available for purchase. In partnership with the participating breweries, 100% of the beer sales will be donated to New Yorkers for Parks’ mission to build, protect, and promote parks and open spaces throughout New York City.
