RMCAD To Host Artist Lilli Carré For 'Collapsing Time' Lecture Series Finale On March 20

DENVER, Feb. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) will host illustrator, animator, and sculptor Lilli Carré on March 20, 2018 in the final installment of the Visiting Artist, Scholar, and Designer (VASD) Program’s Collapsing Time Lecture Series.

Carré’s lecture, titled Ghost in a Loop, will center on the trajectory of her animated work and aspects of her practice that explore the interplay between the physical and virtual self. Often employing the form of a loop narratively and structurally, Carré’s films complicate the linearity of time and the freedom of an animated body. Carré will also discuss her interdisciplinary practice and how these varied methods can both influence and haunt each other.

The event will be held in the Mary Harris Auditorium at RMCAD. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to register at www.rmcad.edu/vasdp/rsvp

Based in Chicago, Carré creates animated films that have shown at the Sundance Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, The Ann Arbor Film Festival, International Festival Rotterdam, and the Punto y Raya Film Festival. In 2010, she co-founded the Eyeworks Festival of Experimental Animation, which is held annually in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City, with additional programs presented internationally throughout the year. Her comics and illustrations have appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Best American Comics and The Best American Nonrequired Reading. Solo exhibitions of her drawing, animation, and sculpture have shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Western Exhibitions, and the Columbus Museum of Art.
