Entergy Mississippi, C Spire team up to tackle rural “digital divide” challenge

JACKSON, Miss., Feb. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — News media representatives are invited to attend a press conference tomorrow morning to announce an $11 million fiber infrastructure project by Entergy Mississippi and C Spire spanning over 300 miles in 15 rural Mississippi counties. The massive project, one of the largest of its kind in the nation, will open the door for future delivery of a wide variety of next-generation broadband services to consumers and businesses in some of the most isolated and rural parts of the state.

The project was conceived by Brandon Presley, chairman of the Mississippi Public Service Commission.  It received a final “green light” when the PSC approved an order on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 authorizing the work to begin later this spring.
