Seychelles Brings Sunshine and Dreams of Escape to France

November 30, 2021 by PressEditor

Sights and sounds of Seychelles have hit the French market with full force through a multi-channel campaign orchestrated by Tourism Seychelles. The campaign, which started in September, is running over a four-month period bringing a torrent of sunshine, outstanding locations and dreams of the warmth of the exotic Indian Ocean island destination to France as this key tourism source market heads into autumn and winter.

Initiated to increase and optimize the reputation of the destination on the French market, the project is part of a broad communication plan which will use a range of media platforms to send a strong message that Seychelles is open, and welcoming our French visitors, Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Marketing, at Tourism Seychelles said.

“We launched the campaign working upstream, ahead of the restart of Air France flights to Seychelles, as we needed to have the destination visible to invite French visitors back to the islands. We know how difficult travelling can be at this moment and through our efforts we aim at inspiring the greatest number of visitors to choose Seychelles for their next holiday out of the country, especially during this autumn-winter period,” said Mrs. Willemin.

At the end of September and for one week, more than 38,530,342 potential travelers were already able to discover the famous landscapes of the island of La Digue, thanks to 1,200 billboards on 1200 train station platforms of Paris, its suburbs and the Provinces.

Shifting gears as of September 20 to October 19, 2021, the campaign moved on to Europe 1 Radio – one of the top five radio stations in France which also broadcasts in the French-speaking part in Belgium and Switzerland – through the airing of some 42 spots run throughout the four weeks and targeting an audience of 12 million. The spots, broadcast during prime time, allowed Seychelles to increase its visibility as an easily accessible destination where one can travel serenely despite this pandemic.

Not leaving any stone unturned, the Tourism Seychelles team then took the viewers of BFT TV by storm with the broadcast of a 20-second spot which ran daily for a fortnight from November 1-14. This segment of the campaign aimed at unveiling Seychelles in all its splendor for viewers to discover or dream about, with a total of 70 spots targeting approximately 21.2 million contacts aged 15 and over.

“Having hit hard for the first two months of the campaign, we are confident that our efforts have reached its goal of increasing brand awareness about the destination, and we are anticipating a boost in sales and increased bookings for the festive season,” said Mrs. Willemin.

She further advised that the campaign has now shifted focus to maximize on the use of digital platforms and several reports in the press; the campaign took to every means to address every traveler specifically, those looking to explore new destinations in more specific niches, such as MICE, wedding or diving.

Several televised reports are expected in the coming weeks, notably on the TF1, Arte and TV5 Monde channels to present the culture and history of Seychelles, gastronomy, as well as the country’s preservation of its environment.

Through this large-scale campaign, the Seychelles archipelago seeks to unveil not only its outstanding beauty but also its authenticity, the diversity of its natural and cultural heritage and, not least, the warm welcome of its population.

Seychelles has already welcomed 152,345 visitors since the beginning of 2021 including 14,652 French visitors, which ranks France as the destination’s fourth-leading source tourism market. Since the arrival of Air France on o, France has led weekly visitor arrivals to Seychelles for the last four weeks.

The latest entry requirements and health procedures as well as all updated lists of operators currently licensed on site are available on the Ministry of Tourism’s website.

IS THERE A WAY TO TRAVEL?

World Tourism Network President Dr. Peter Tarlow, who is also the chaplain for the College Station, Texas Police Department, and an expert on travel & tourism safety and security, has advice for the world of tourism: This is no time to panic, but this is a time to use your brains.

This advice comes two days after the world was woken up by another strain of the Coronavirus, known as Omicron, or technically the B.1.1.529 variant.

No Evidence of Variant B.1.1.529 of COVID-19 in Seychelles, New Travel Measures Announced

November 27, 2021 by PressEditor

Visitors from South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe are not permitted entry into Seychelles effective today Saturday, November 27, 2021, until further notice, the Seychelles Ministry of Health has announced. No cases of variant B.1.1.529 have been detected in Seychelles, the local authorities confirm.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that it is applying new travel measures for visitors, Seychellois nationals and residents travelling from the Southern African region due to a new COVID-19 variant circulating in South Africa and its surrounding countries.

In response, the national airline, Air Seychelles, has cancelled all flights from Johannesburg to Seychelles with the exception of those of December 1, December 17, and December 19. Passengers already in Seychelles who are booked to travel to Johannesburg should contact their airline concerning their departure flights.

The new measures require all persons already in Seychelles who have been to these countries in the last two weeks to go for a PCR test if they have been in Seychelles from five (5) up to fourteen (14) days after arrival. Those who have been in Seychelles for less than five (5) days should wait for Day 5 to go for the PCR test.

All Seychellois and residents returning to Seychelles who have been to any of these countries in the last two weeks are required to self-quarantine and take a compulsory PCR test on Day 5 after arrival.

Travel to South Africa and the other named countries is strongly discouraged.

Whilst there is no evidence that variant B.1.1.529, named Omicron by the World Health Organization, has been detected in Seychelles, local authorities have advised that all public health and social measures in place must be strictly respected.

To note that Seychelles welcomes all visitors irrespective of their vaccination status on the condition that they have a COVID-19 negative PCR test certificate that must be taken within 72 hours prior to travel, except for visitors coming from countries on the restricted list as follows: South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

No quarantine is required for visitors entering Seychelles. However, they are being strongly encouraged to be fully immunized before travel. They are allowed free movement throughout their entire holiday but they must adhere to all public health measures. They also are free to stay at any health-certified tourism accommodation establishment on the condition that they follow all health protocols that are in place at these establishments.

The latest entry requirements and health procedures as well as all updated lists of licensed tourism operators and accommodation establishments certified as COVID-safe are available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism’s website and Seychelles.govtas.com.
