2018 Asian Dance Tour – Taipei Open Is a Resounding Success!

TAIPEI, Taiwan, March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — The 2018 Asian Dance Tour – Taipei Open was held on the 28th of February at the Taipei Arena and was without a doubt hailed as a resounding success!

Originally organized by the Department of Sports, Taipei City Government and the Taiwan International Sport Development Association, this year is Taipei Open’s 10th Anniversary. It blew away previously set records with a 15% increase of world class competitors, compared to 2016 and 2017, which included more than 400 couples from 30 countries.

Ballroom and Latin dance are enjoying ever increasing popularity in Taiwan, and this year’s competition was no exception with no less than three local, Taiwanese couples dancing their way in to the finals.

In addition to 48 globally ranked couples, this year’s competition was graced by the participation of World Professional Ballroom Champions Mr. Arunas Bizokas & Ms. Katusha Demidova and World Professional Latin Champions Mr. Riccardo Cocchi & Ms. Yulia Zaguychenko from the United States.

With over USD $100,000 in prize money and official recognition by the World Dance Council (WDC) as a World Ranking Series level competition, the Taiwan competition attracts some of the best and brightest stars in Ballroom and Latin dance throughout Asia and the rest of the world.

Thanks to the generous support of the Department of Sports, Taipei City Government, Taiwan International Sport Dance Development Association and Taiwan’s ever-growing dance community.
