THE STATE plans to create its first major investment in attracting Indian tourists to WA, including appointing a full-time marketing representative in Mumbai.
Tourism Minister Paul Papalia will announce information on the investment on a trip to India this week. However the early focus will be built around cricket.

A co-operative marketing deal has been struck with Thomas Cook, in December offering travel packages to Perth for the initial cricket Test match at Optus Stadium.
“Our extraordinary State has much to provide Indian travellers, whether they’re visiting for business, leisure or education,” Mr Papalia said.
“However the only thing Indians currently find out about Western Australia is a bouncy is had by the WACA wicket.”

Despite having less direct flights, about 28,200 Indians visit WA every year and spend $68 million.
