AN elderly Victorian tourist had to be rescued from the Kalamina Gorge area of Karijini National Park after she fell and hurt her hip yesterday.
The 72-year-old woman was rescued just before 2pm after a personal locator beacon was set off, sparking an alert from the AMSA Rescue Coordination Centre to WA Police.
Parks and Wildlife Service rangers, State Emergency Service volunteers and Tom Price Police and a nearby rescue helicopter were all called on to assist the woman who was unable to walk.
She was carried to safety before being flown by helicopter to Hedland Health Campus for medical treatment.
It is believed the woman had been visiting the area with her husband.
