A tourist who has died after he was attacked by way of a hippo while taking photos on the shores of a lake in Kenya.
Chang Ming Chuang, 66, was pronounced dead on arrival at Navisha Distrcit Hospital, the Kenyan Wildlife Service said.
Another man, 62-year-old Wu Peng Te, on Saturday night was injured in the incident in Lake Naivasha.
The service tweeted on Sunday that it had been “sad to announce the death of a Chinese tourist who was simply attacked by way of a hippo while capturing on the shores of Lake Naivasha yesterday evening.”
It said that “his colleague survived with minor bruises” and added that the hippo had been tracked.
Wildlife service spokesman Paul Udoto insisted that attacks on tourists are rare because they’re usually protected by guides.
However he said hippos and lone buffalo pose an excellent danger to humans and there were many attacks where civilians and also rangers have lost their lives.
Naivasha is really a city 56 miles of the administrative centre northwest, Nairobi.
