HOUSTON, Feb. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Potts Law Firm, a Houston-based law firm with an office in Dallas, is seeking damages on behalf of Texas Christian University’s former star wideout, Kolby Listenbee. The lawsuit filing styled Kolby Listenbee v. Texas Christian University, BIG XII Conference, Inc., Texas Christian University Board of Trustees, et al, Case Number CC-18-00585-A, was filed in the Dallas County Civil Division. The lawsuit alleges that in his time at TCU, Listenbee was the number two receiver alongside Josh Docston.  He was the team’s deep ball threat with his speed of a world class sprinter.  In addition to football, Listenbee competed for the TCU Track team, reaching the NCAA Men’s 100-meter Championship Final in 2015.  In his senior year, in a football game against SMU, Listenbee injured his pubic symphysis – the cartilage that holds the pelvic bones together during a touchdown pass reception.  He was diagnosed with pelvic instability (osteitis pubis) which requires a minimum six months of rest and rehabilitation.

The lawsuit alleges that rather than letting him rest and recover from the injury that Head Coach Patterson, former Offensive Coordinator Doug Meacham, and other TCU football coaches continuously pressured, humiliated, and harassed Listenbee shortly after his injury diagnosis in an effort to force Listenbee to return to play quickly in their quest for a national football championship.  The lawsuit also alleges that the school’s training staff routinely injected him with pain and steroidal medications to make it possible for him to endure the pain of the injury while playing.  The lawsuit alleges that the injections of steroids and pain medications, lack of rest due to harassment and abuse from the coaching staff, and strenuous play of football caused Listenbee’s pelvic cartilage to damage to the point where a metal plate had to be inserted to fuse the bones, essentially ending his chances at the NFL career that he would have had. Despite his blazing 40-yard dash time of 4.39 seconds, Listenbee was selected in the 6th Round by the Buffalo Bills.  He was released after one year without any snaps.  The lawsuit also names the Big XII Conference for failing to review TCU’s compliance with the NCAA Rules and policies.
