Attention Airport Officials: Naked man on the tarmac

March 27, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

Is this the new way to fly? Naked? A male passenger dressed only in his birthday suit was spotted trying to board his flight completely naked while walking across the tarmac at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

The bizarre scene happened just days after a similar incident saw another traveler attempt to board a plane without any clothes on.

A tweet, which was shared by ORD Airport Insider, reported that the passenger was allegedly detained at Gate C10 after walking from E12 at Chicago O’Hare’s Terminal 1. According to the tweet, the naked individual had been attempting to board a Delta flight – although this hasn’t been confirmed.

In the photo, the man appeared to have been given a safety vest to wear around his waist to cover himself up.

Another tweet said: “Multiple witnesses say he walked off a Delta flight at Terminal 2, but that hasn’t been confirmed. He was quickly apprehended by airport authorities. ”

It is unclear how the man got onto the tarmac or when he got naked.

US Advisory for Democratic Republic of Congo: Reconsider travel

March 22, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

The US Department of State has issued a travel advisory for the Democratic Republic of Congo advising that travel be reconsidered due to crime and civil unrest. Some areas have increased risk.

The Travel Advisory recommends:

Do not travel to –

  • North Kivu and Ituri provinces due to Ebola.
  • Eastern DRC and the three Kasai provinces due to armed conflict.

Violent crime, such as armed robbery, armed home invasion, and assault, while rare compared to petty crime, is not uncommon, and local police lack the resources to respond effectively to serious crime. Be aware that assailants may pose as police or security agents.

Many cities throughout the country experience demonstrations, some of which have turned violent.  Police authorities have at times responded with heavy-handed tactics that have resulted in civilian casualties and arrests.

The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens outside of Kinshasa due to extremely limited infrastructure and poor security conditions.

Read the Safety and Security section on the Country Information Page.

If you decide to travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo:

  • Avoid demonstrations.
  • Use caution when walking or driving at night.
  • Always carry a copy of your U.S. passport and visa (if applicable). Keep original documents in a secure location.
  • Visit the CDC Travel Notice on Ebola in Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has information on this outbreak.
  • Visit the CDC Travelers’ Health Page for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which includes information on Ebola.
  • Consult with a doctor for preventive medical advice. Many diseases present in the DRC have symptoms similar to Ebola. If suspected to have Ebola, you could face travel delays.
  • Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program(STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.
  • Follow the Department of State on Facebookand Twitter.
  • Review the Crime and Safety Report for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
  • S. citizens who travel abroad should always have a contingency plan for emergency situations. Review the Traveler’s Checklist.

North Kivu and Ituri Provinces

Sporadic but severe outbreaks of violence targeting civilians, including killing, rape, kidnapping, and pillaging, continue throughout North Kivu, South Kivu, Tanganyika, Haut Lomami, Ituri, Bas-Uele, and Haut-Uele provinces.

A significant number of both confirmed and probable cases of Ebola have been reported in nine health zones of Congo’s North Kivu and Ituri provinces.

The U.S. government is unable to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in North Kivu and Ituri provinces as U.S. government travel to these areas is restricted.

Visit the government website for Travel to High-Risk Areas.

The Eastern DRC Region and the Three Kasai Provinces

Parts of eastern DRC and the provinces of Kasai Oriental, Kasai Central, and Kasai Occidental are unstable due to armed group activity and military operations.  Major outbreaks of violence include the targeting of civilians in these areas.

The U.S. government is unable to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in eastern DRC region and the three Kasais provinces as U.S. government travel to these regions is restricted.

Visit the government website for Travel to High-Risk Areas.

Viking Cruises expands European river fleet

March 20, 2019 by Forimmediaterelease

Viking Cruises today welcomed the latest additions to its river fleet, with the naming of seven new river ships during a celebration on the Rhine River in Basel, Switzerland. Of the seven ships, six are Viking Longships – Viking Einar, Viking Sigrun, Viking Sigyn, Viking Tir, Viking Ullur and Viking Vali – which will be deployed on Viking’s most popular itineraries on the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers. The seventh new ship – Viking Helgrim – was inspired by the Longships design and built specifically for the Douro River, bringing the company’s total number of sister ships in Portugal to four.

This launch of new river ships is Viking’s latest milestone as the company continues to expand and dominate industry awards. Just two weeks ago, Viking swept Cruise Critic’s 2019 Cruisers’ Choice Awards with 11 First Place Wins – including the new “Best for River Cruises” category – and just last month the company took delivery of its sixth ocean ship, Viking Jupiter, which will be named in Oslo on June 6. In addition, Viking was again named the #1 River Cruise Line by Condé Nast Traveler in the publication’s 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards, and Travel + Leisure readers named Viking a #1 Ocean Cruise Line and one of the World’s Best River Cruise Lines in the 2018 World’s Best Awards.

“We began hosting guests on the rivers of Russia 22 years ago, and we have always done things differently. We focus on the destination, and we provide travel experiences that allow our guests to learn, to enrich their lives and to explore the world in comfort. It is ‘The Viking Difference’ that has made us the leading river cruise line in the world – and has helped river cruising become one of the fastest-growing segments of travel,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. “As the leader, it is also important that we recognize those who have helped us achieve success. This year I am especially proud to honor members of the Viking family as godmothers of our newest river ships.”

Viking Naming Ceremony

In keeping with a maritime tradition that dates back thousands of years, Viking invited seven long-serving employees and important members of the company’s family to serve as honorary godmothers of the new ships.

•Leah Talactac, Godmother of Viking Einar
•Natalia Hofmann, Godmother of Viking Helgrim
•Wendy Atkin-Smith, Godmother of Viking Sigrun
•Rikke Semb Pertile, Godmother of Viking Sigyn
•Gisela Rückert, Godmother of Viking Tir
•Linh Banh, Godmother of Viking Ullur
•Minxuan Zhao, Godmother of Viking Vali

The naming event was executed by connecting the new ships via satellite across four European cities. Viking Einar and Viking Sigrun were docked in Basel and named by in-person by their godmothers. The other five ships were “virtually” named by their godmothers: Viking Sigyn and Viking Ullur in Rostock, Germany; Viking Tir and Viking Vali in Brunsbüttel, Germany; and Viking Helgrim in Porto, Portugal. In keeping with another maritime tradition, a bottle of Gammel Opland aquavit was broken on the bow of each new ship. Gammel Opland hails from the same county in Norway where Chairman Hagen’s mother, Ragnhild – also lovingly known as “Mamsen” – was born and was her favorite brand of aquavit. Following the naming event, guests enjoyed dinner at Basel’s Fondation Beyeler museum, set amidst the museum’s newest and most ambitious exhibition: The Young Picasso. Blue and Rose Periods. Guests were also treated to a performance by Alma Deutscher, the 14-year-old English composer, pianist, violinist, and child prodigy – who is a favorite of Chairman Hagen’s.

Best Time To Visit Sistine Chapel Rome

February 16, 2019 by Newswire

Seeing the Michelangelo paintings on the Sistine Chapel ceiling is a dream that many people have, and a visit to the Sistine Chapel is always first on their list of things to do in Rome. Located within the boundaries of Vatican City, this area is a veritable treasure chest containing over 20,000 works of art on display, but none more awe-inspiring than the ceiling paint in the chapel.
If you’re planning a trip to Rome Italy, then read on to find out the best time to visit so that you can avoid the crowds and make the most of your time in this iconic city.

best way to visit sistine chapel

The Best Time To Visit The Sistine Chapel Rome
The Sistine Chapel is right next to the Vatican Museums, and inside the Apostolic Palace which is the Pope’s official residence. In the chapel, you will find some of the most famous Michelangelo paintings including the world-renowned ‘The Creation of Adam’.

The ceiling paint frescoes on the chapel are very popular, and this means that this place can be packed on some days. If you want to avoid the crowds and the long queues, the best way to see the Sistine Chapel ceiling is by booking a guided tour that will allow you to skip the lines and maximize your time there so that you don’t miss any of the important sights to see and things to do in Rome.

If you are planning a visit to the Sistine Chapel in Rome Italy, use this short guide to help you organize your tour so you get there on the best day and at the right time. Whether you book a ‘skip the line’ tour or if you go it on your own, you will find useful information here.

The Best Time Of Year To Visit The Sistine Chapel
Low season in Rome is at the beginning of November every year and goes on until the 20th of December, which marks the start of the Christmas period. January 6th is when the Christmas period ends. High season begins at Easter and ends around the 31st of October. During high season, the crowd flow varies, and it helps to know the days when there are more or fewer visitors accessing the Sistine Chapel.

The Best Days To Visit

Monday is by far the busiest day, and if you want to see the Michelangelo paintings without the pushing and jostling crowds, then avoid going on this day. There are massive lines from early morning, and you’ll have to wait at the entrance for a long time before you get inside.

Tuesday is a lot quieter than Monday, and it can be a great choice for a visit to see the famed Sistine Chapel ceiling. But you should always check the Vatican calendar for any Vatican City holidays or special ceremonies as the museums will be closed on those days.

Wednesday is when the Pope’s Audience is held, which means that if you go very early, you’ll be able to see what the Sistine Chapels look like when they’re nearly empty.

Thursday is not very busy, except when there is a special ceremony or a Vatican holiday, so it’s a particularly great day to visit if you want to see the ceiling paint frescoes from Michelangelo.

Friday is one of the busiest days at the Vatican City, and no matter what time of day you go, you’ll be met with massive crowds accessing the Sistine Chapel.

Together with Saturday and Monday, these days are always packed because of the long weekend holiday travelers.

If you are planning a visit to Rome Italy, and the Sistine Chapel is on your list of things to do in Rome, then click the link below to book a guided tour at the most incredible prices online.
