London Travel Week Announces Key Events

October 12, 2019 by PressEditor

Taking place from the 1 to 7 November 2019, London Travel Week will bring together industry events and become the largest festival supporting the global travel and tourism industry in the world.

The new kid in the mix is discreetly emerging as a still sleeping giant, the International Tourism & Investment Conference on November 1 and 2 at the InterContinental Park Lane, London. It’s the place where tourism celebrities meet emerging leaders in the global travel and tourism industry, and where tourism investment projects can be introduced and find funding.

Each November, over 50,000 travel professionals flock to London and numerous industry events take place throughout the week surrounding WTM London. London Travel Week will create a world-class travel-hub by combining a variety of occasions including awards ceremonies, tourism conferences and travel industry celebrations – demonstrating the array of new possibilities.

On Sunday 3 November, the food, travel and innovation summit FoodTrex will be hosting events throughout the day. This brings cutting edge information on food tourism together with quality networking opportunities, allowing businesses and brands to be part of the evolution of food travel.

The programme for the week also includes the second edition of the International Travel & Tourism Awards (ITTAs). The prestigious awards will celebrate the best in class of national, regional and city tourist boards, as well as outstanding private sector companies and individuals. The ITTAs will be taking place in the brand new Magazine London venue on Tuesday 5 November.

Also on Tuesday 5 November will be a networking event held by MXConnect. This will give attendees the chance to meet Mexican destinations, hotels and DMCs at a networking cocktail session. There will be new contacts and suppliers all under one roof.

Finally, TTG will once again host their highly anticipated WTM London Closing Party on the evening of Wednesday 6 November. This year it will be hosted at the Tropicana Beach Club in Covent Garden and will bring together buyers, sellers, operators, airlines and the travel trade. This invite-only event is certainly not to be missed.

London Travel Week is unlocking invaluable networking and business opportunities for those who journey to the UK during the first week of November for WTM London. This one-stop-shop showcases the must-attend travel and tourism events taking place outside of the home of WTM London – the ExCel, London.

Top tech experts and travel brands share insights at Travel Forward

October 9, 2019 by PressEditor

Delegates at Travel Forward – the travel technology event co-located with WTM London – will hear from the likes of Google, Facebook and Expedia about hi-tech ways that travel will innovate from 2020 onwards.

Expert speakers from global tech giants will join executives from multinational travel firms such as easyJet, Accor and KLM at a two-day conference, which is part of the three-day Travel Forward (Monday 4 – Wednesday 6 November).

The keynote speaker on the first morning (4 November) is Becky Power from Google UK, who will discuss how advances in digital technology can help travel businesses to stay competitive and improve customer loyalty. Her session will look at the latest innovations in the travel industry, with case studies outlining how technology has been successfully applied within the industry – and how these breakthroughs been driven by the changing needs of consumers. She started her career as a consultant at Accenture before joining Google 13 years ago, and is also a mentor for Ceresa, a mentoring initiative to help more women take on leadership roles.

She will be followed by Harj Dhaliwal from Virgin Hyperloop One, a pioneering mass transit system that aims to transport people and goods at nearly 700 miles per hour. Plans for the world’s first hyperloop project have been approved in India, aiming to link Pune and Mumbai in less than 35 minutes – compared to the current three-and-a-half-hour road journey. Dhaliwal will outline how the $10 billion scheme can create a blueprint for a hyperloop network across India – and update delegates about plans for similar Virgin Hyperloop One projects across the globe, from the US to the Middle East.

The afternoon sessions will showcase hi-tech ways to improve the experience for leisure and business travellers. Anette Schouls from KLM will talk about how she and her team harness the latest digital technology to help the airline’s passengers. Their recent flagship project was the new KLM Crown Lounge at Schiphol Airport, which welcomes 5,000 visitors from around the world every day.

She will be followed by three speakers for the session entitled ‘The zero-friction customer journey’ – Alex Dalman from advertising and marketing firm VCCP; Morwenna Francis from EasyJet; and Siobhan McWeeny from Facebook. Dalman helped to create easyJet’s Look&Book app which enables users to book a flight from just a photograph, and she will join Francis to discuss how it has helped the no-frills airline. McWeeny will reveal trends and insights from Facebook showing delegates how they can reduce friction for customers.

Two keynote sessions on the conference’s second day will examine the influence of ‘Generation Alpha’ and explore trends in the hospitality sector. The keynote speech about Generation Alpha by Andrew van der Feltz, from Expedia Group Media Solutions, will feature research findings about the emerging cohort of travellers born after 2010. They have grown up with technology, digital content and instant gratification and can influence family holiday decisions and the future of travel. He will be followed by Accor’s Frederic Fontaine who will use case studies from the hotel giant to demonstrate how organisations can change in a sustainable way, and put the customer at the centre of their planning.

Across the two days of Travel Forward delegates will have learnt about the transformative impact technology across the travel landscape, and how to harness digital capabilities to deliver on the joint goals of better customer experiences, and sustainable business value. In the Final Panel: Rethinking digital transformation session, speakers and panellists from across the two days will review insights and discuss: how can delegates take these learnings forward, embracing strategies to deliver innovation across their organisations?

Now in its second year, Travel Forward at ExCeL London features a conference, exhibition and Startup Showcase programme – which concludes at 16:30 in the TF Keynote Theatre on the Tuesday – designed to help senior decision-makers to plan for the future.

As well as top executives in the Keynote Theatre, the conference will feature other sessions in the TF Conference Theatre 2, looking at issues such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, blockchain, business growth and marketing.

Richard Gayle, Event Manager for Travel Forward said: “Last year’s inaugural event was a great success and we’re building on that to offer delegates even more in 2019 – more ideas about how the industry will look in the 2020s and more solutions to overcome the biggest challenges facing the travel industry. “Travel Forward is the event that embraces fresh concepts and innovative projects to inspire delegates. The motivational speakers in our keynote theatre will share their stories of entrepreneurship and cutting-edge technology, which will galvanize our visitors.”

WTM London 2019 to reveal the latest Global Travel Research

October 1, 2019 by PressEditor

The most current and thought provoking research into global and regional travel trends will be revealed over all three days at WTM London 2019 (Monday 4 November to Wednesday 6 November).

Research sessions commence in the WTM International Media Centre with ForwardKeys’ research into the UK outbound market. ForwardKeys, which analyze 17 million flights a day, will review the top 50 UK inbound flights, comparing them to last year and five years prior. The session takes place in the Press Conference Theatre (ME170) at 10.30 am on Monday 4 November and is preceded by the chance to network over tea, coffee and pastries during the WTM Press Breakfast at 10 am.

On Monday afternoon, World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF), will present a session looking at China’s astonishing economic growth, which has created a brand new group of travellers. The session entitled, Booming Chinese Outbound Market, will have a panel of experts looking to discuss the aims at better understanding the Chinese traveller by sharing experiences and expertise from different angles.

It will take place on the dedicated Asia Inspiration Zone at 12.15 on Monday 4 November.

Tuesday morning will see Euromonitor International present a session entitled Megatrends Shaping the Future of Travel. Attendees will discover the latest developments for global travel and tourism performance. This session will give insights into upcoming trends in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East and Africa. The key focus is on major drivers, consumer behaviour and attitudes that are affecting travel companies’ bottom line. The research will prepare participants with the important knowledge to navigate the year ahead.

Lead by Euromonitor’s Head of Travel, Caroline Bremner, this session takes place at 11.30 am in the Press Conference Theatre.

First thing on Wednesday morning at 10 am in the Press Conference Theatre there is a session, which looks specifically at research around Sustainability in Tourism, conducted by MMGY and Destination International. The research is from a comprehensive survey issued to the global travel industry which looks at gaining insight into what companies are doing responsibly, how they are measuring the impact and what they hope to do moving forward.

This research ties in with World Responsible Tourism Day (WRTD), now the largest day of responsible tourism action in the world and focusing on responsible tourism efforts in the travel industry.

All research sessions in the Press Conference Theatre are available to all delegates.

As part of WTM London’s drive to hone the relevance of sessions, with a greater focus on the regions represented at the show, area-specific topics will be covered within the regional Inspiration Zones.

WTM London, WTM Portfolio Press & PR Lead, Julia Newbound, said: “Research is a crucial component of the WTM London seminar experience, with past sessions consistently standing-room-only. Companies big and small want to ensure they are ahead of the game, so attending these sessions to find out the latest research, trends and data is a great way to make sure they are not left behind.

“We have a mix of global research alongside dedicated country-focused sessions in our regional Inspiration Zones. These sessions will offer delegates even more ideas to implement in their businesses, further demonstrating that Ideas Arrive at WTM London.”

3 Unique Places to Visit in London

September 27, 2019 by forimmediaterelease.net -

London represents a key travel location visited by many enthusiasts each year. It is also one of the most important cities in the world when it comes to the business world. However, most people visiting London for the first time are only aware of a few popular travel sights such as Big Ben, the London Eye, and, of course, Hyde Park.

However, London is a lot more than just the popular landmarks mentioned above. If you take the less beaten path and start emerging yourself in the English culture and the local communities, you will be able to discover a handful of unique places that must be visited while being there. We will cover three such places in this article.

God’s Own Junkyard

When talking about neon signs you might first think about the extravagant Las Vegas or some classic venues from the ’30s. London will never be your first thought. However, the city shows a passion for the classic neon signs that anybody can visit at God’s Own Junkyard gallery. The place provides visitors with a psychedelic experience and the ability to explore the depths of the neon world.

Located in East London in an industrial site, the gallery offers quite a unique and colorful experience. You can see anything from Soho signs to materials used in professional shoots and to classic English pub signs. The gallery also features a coffee place, The Rolling Scones Café in case you want to take a break and internalize everything. God’s Own Junkyard is opened every weekend with a free entrance, making this experience available to everybody.

Hippodrome Casino

London is famous around the world for many things but, gambling is not necessarily one of them. If you want to gamble you can go to the classics like Las Vegas and Macau. However, while you are in London you should still check out the Hippodrome Casino as this place it’s not just about gambling.

Situated in Leicester Square, this casino represents the go-to place for English gambling enthusiasts for more than 100 years. The venue features a 180-seat theatre that’s constantly featuring outstanding jazz, soul, cabaret and burlesque shows. You can also take a break at one of the 6 bars located on the premise of the casino or, to enjoy a good meal at the Heliot Steak House.

If you want to have a fully-immersive “Hippodrome experience” you can always try the casino tables. You can explore three floors full of casino games featuring something for anybody. Many of the games, such as the slots are reminiscent of the classic-looking games found in online casinos like Gametwist online.

Such online casinos can provide an entertaining experience close to the one you can find in the Hippodrome Casino. Whereas in the Hippodrome you have three floors full of gambling, online you have a library featuring hundreds of different games. The casino is a place worth visiting regardless if you want to gamble, enjoy a live jazz performance or to simply eat a great steak.

The Twinings Store

We’re all well aware that there’s a strong connection between Brits and tea, right? Tea is, of course, a well-recognized English symbol. This passion for tea can be understood by exploring the story of Twinings, which can be easily accomplished by visiting the 300-year-old Twinings tea store.

Twinings represents one of the first tea merchants that has been providing UK’s royal households with beverages for centuries. The Twinings Café located on the Strand first opened in 1706. Although many changed since then, people can still explore its story while enjoying a good cup of tea over at the store.

Conclusion

London has many landmarks recognized all around the world. They represent the first go-to locations for tourists. As great as these places might be, there’s still an unexplored English culture that many travelers miss out on. For that reason, everybody should visit the three places mentioned above at least once while being in London.

WTM London Welcomes Only the Finest Global Travel Buyers to Join 40th Edition

September 27, 2019 by PressEditor

For the 40th Anniversary of WTM London, the Buyers’ Club program is being revamped to create a new and exclusive experience for buyers, exhibitors and visitors.

The aim is to only have the highest calibre of buyers at the show, meaning that each one receives a more tailored experience. This focus on streamlining WTM London’s features will create a greater business experience for all as well as ensuring the arrival of fresh ideas and new possibilities.

As there will be no changes in visa policies for people entering the UK following a deal or no-deal Brexit – it is anticipated global buyer applications will exceed those of last year. In 2018, there were over 9,000 buyers. This year it is projected there will be more buyer applications than ever.

As part of the new and improved WTM London Buyers’ Club, the top 600 industry buyers will receive invitations to attend. These buyers have achieved their position due to their reputation, place of business and buyer spending power. Although there will be less than in previous years, this group will have been screened to guarantee the highest quality set of buyers that will have ever attended WTM London.

Outside of the top 600 global buyers, the application process includes a new vetting procedure. This process will gather data on how individual buyers use WTM London to enhance their business, ensuring all who attend gain maximum benefits from this world-class travel exhibition.

All Buyers’ Club members have the opportunity to expand connections in the comfort of dedicated luxury lounges during the show, complete with private meeting rooms. This is in addition to the opportunity to participate in at least one of the WTM London Speed Networking events. Taking place on the Monday (4) and Tuesday (5) of WTM London, the speed networking aims to bring together global buyers and suppliers in a professional and business-driven environment.

Senior Exhibition Director of WTM London, Simon Press, said: “This fundamental change in the way in which the Buyers’ Programme will operate represents an exciting advancement for WTM London.

“Entering our 40th edition has encouraged us to refine our products in order to give attendees the best experience possible. We feel our more exclusive approach to the Buyers’ Club will produce fantastic results, making WTM London the location for the world’s top buyers to do business and to enhance the global travel industry.”
