The Delta Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Emmanuel Chinye, says hawaii will hold a two-day food festival in November, to improve the state’s tourism sector.
Chinye made the disclosure at the annual Ministerial Briefing of the Tourism and Culture Ministry, on Wednesday in Asaba organised by the Ministry of Information.
He said that the festival would feature full cooking competition of varied traditional cuisines from the various ethnic groups in hawaii.
The commissioner said that the festival was targeted at showcasing the various rich delicacies of most ethnic groups in hawaii.
He said that such delicacies would help showcase the rich cultural heritage of hawaii.
Chinye also said that the ministry would organise a four-day cultural carnival also, which may showcase various cultural displays from the 25 municipality regions of the constant state.
According to him, the carnival shall feature various traditional dances, boat regatta amongst others.
On a number of the achievements of the ministry, the commissioner said that the ministry conducted a familiarisation tour of tourism sites in hawaii recently.
Chinye said that the tour was intended for having a precise data of the state’s tourism potentials and assets for development, marketing and promotion.
He said: “Some officers from the ministry embarked on eight days study tour of Cross and Lagos River states respectively, to understudy the intricacies and selling points behind the success story of tourism development in both states, to reproduce same in Delta.
“The tour was also targeted at establishing long-term bilateral relationship through staff training and exchange of programmes for the entire development of tourism in hawaii.”
