January 8, 2018 by PressEditor

malta

The sixth edition of the Valletta International Baroque Festival will run from January 13-27, 2018 with 2 weeks of gorgeous music spread over 26 events in 14 different locations across Malta.

The Valletta International Baroque Festival celebrates the city’s establishment at the height of the baroque period and honors its vital role in European history. Each day of the fortnight features an ensemble of top international baroque musicians at different breath-taking venues across the city.

This prestigious event is produced and managed by Teatru Manoel and is now a must-see in the local arts and culture scene. Key highlights include:

• The opening event at Teatru Manoel on January 13 will see Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons performed by Shunske Sato on the violin who will share the limelight with Concerto Koln. Koln will stage another performance on the second day of the festival, performing Bach and Italy.

• Mahan Esfahani, the harpsicord legend, will return this year to delight audiences with his music together with La Folia Barockorchester, while The Ghislieri choir and consort will be performing two concerts, one in St John’s Co-Cathedral, and one at The Mdina Cathedral.

• The 2018 Baroque Festival will venture outside the capital Valletta to other impressive locations including the Metropolitan Cathedral and The Aula Capitulare in Mdina, Verdala Palace, and The Malta Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa.

• The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Riccardo Bianchi, will perform music by Grieg, Tansman, Gravina and Villa-Lobos.

The Absolute Smartest Way To Attend World Cup 2018

January 8, 2018 by PressEditor

As any real football fan knows, nothing beats actually being at a match, most especially a World Cup game.

Being at the World Cup is being part of history, regardless of who we support.

The beautiful game puts on a global event every four years that brings the world to a standstill for over a month. Depending on where you are in the world, watching it in the middle of the night or trying to sneak watch it at work, nothing, absolutely nothing, comes close to actually being there watching the action live.

We wait four long years, anxious to see who qualifies, eager to see who doesn’t qualify, and then with fingers crossed to avoid tough groups that could send us home early, we wait for the group draws.

FIFA’s World Cup is a very big deal in anyone’s language.

For the fortunate fans who actually get to go to a World Cup, it is a major trophy trip and must-see, must-do footballing experience.

Even if your team does not lift the trophy, just being there live is easily a once in a lifetime experience for any football enthusiast.

This year Russia is hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and the bun fight is on to snag match tickets. Especially for games in Moscow and St. Petersburg for the semi-finals and the final.

But I learned this week of a much easier, smarter way of attending the world’s most sought-after sporting event. And it’s not paying through the nose for secondary market seats.

The five-star airline, Qatar Airways, an official partner of FIFA’s 2018 World Cup, has just announced a diverse range of really outstanding, all-inclusive packages, and they really are inclusive. Packages start from  $2945 USD and include flights, VIP transfers, hotels, visas, match tickets, and if you want to tour around while in Russia, some excellent, optional sightseeing tours. Not to mention it is seamless, easy planning and purchasing at the Qatar Airways’ Holiday website. You will completely avoid the scramble of sorting out flights, hotels, match tickets, and importantly, mucking about with visas on your own.

This really is one-stop, whip your credit card out and you’re done shopping, through one of the world’s top airlines. With access to tickets you probably cannot find anywhere else, including the coveted semi-finals and the final. For the nimble and the quick, it means crossing something major off their bucket lists.

These packages, which are able to be customized, were announced last week and are on sale through January 31, 2018, or until sold out.  I suspect ‘sold out’ will occur well before the end of the sales period, these ticket inclusive packages will go like proverbial hotcakes. So, don’t hang on if you want an official, inclusive World Cup travel package through an official partner of World Cup. All packages are completely authorized and sanctioned by FIFA.

Here’s the link to the booking platform, grab your 2018 World Cup seats before someone else does.  And go Three Lions, aka, England. But let’s face it, I’m not holding my breath, we have been doing that as a nation since 1966.

Kompas debuts M/S Stella Maris for 2018’s deluxe small ship cruises on new routes along Adriatic Coast and offers Early Bird Discounts on bookings through Dec. 15, 2017

November 21, 2017 by PressEditor

kompas

Kompas Holidays International’s 2018 cruises marks its latest portfolio of deluxe small ship cruises with the debut of the brand new 18-cabin M/S Stella Maris that will ply the pristine Adriatic Coast highlighting the best Croatia has to offer.

To mark the debut of the M/S Stella Maris as part of the Kompas fleet, the company is offering a special Early Booking Discount on selected April and May cruise departures for a savings of $300 per person or $600 per cabin for bookings received by Dec. 15, 2017. The specially-rated departures are all eight-day Adriatic Cruise programs scheduled between April 28, and May 26 (from Dubrovnik to Porec).

In other news, Kompas is the only small ship cruise company to ply the Dubrovnik/Porec and Porec/Dubrovnik route this year. From UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Dubrovnik’s Old Town, Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Sibenik’s Saint James Cathedral and the Euphrasian Basilica of Porec; stopping on the island of Mali Losinj, known as the Island of Miracles and Wellness; to the National Parks of Mljet, Brijuni, and Kornati. Fully-escorted sightseeing programs will also take you to the captivating island of Korcula, Marco Polo’s birthplace or “Little Dubrovnik,” and the island of Hvar, famous for its lavender fields.

The exclusive eight-day programs aboard the new five-star vessels that feature the 36-bed M/S Stella Maris for 2018 are priced from $1,760 to $2,078 per person, based on two sharing a cabin.

Scheduled departures take place from April 28 through October 20, 2018 with the exception of the August 25 and the September 29 departures, which are sold out.

This selection of cruises are aboard the brand new M/S Stella Maris, which is outfitted with deluxe and modern amenities, such as LCD TV, fully air-conditioned cabins furnished with either queen-sized or twin beds with windows or portholes and en-suite bathrooms.

With a capacity of 36 passengers, M/S Stella Maris features a salon/restaurant, swimming platform and outdoor showers, complimentary Wi-Fi and direct internal telephone communication from cabins to the bar.

The size of the 160-foot long M/S Stella Maris as well as Kompas’ other five-star small ship vessels – the M/S Adriatic Queen, M/S Arca, M/S Desire, the M/S Karizma, and the M/S Prestige – allows them to move freely and easily into the intimate ports of Croatian Islands.

Because the company’s roots are in this region, Kompas knows the Adriatic as no other and sells small ship cruises and land-only vacations from 7 to 20 days in duration as escorted tours, city stays, and cruises throughout Europe – from Russia to Italy, through the Eastern Mediterranean, the Golden Triangle of Vienna, Budapest and Prague, as far west as Germany and as north as the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Kompas has become one of the most prominent travel companies in the world and has been in the U.S. market for more than 30 years.

Taiwan’s New Favorite Mascot Bear – Bravo!

October 17, 2017 by PressEditor

After the cute Kumamon bear became Japan’s most popular mascot, now there is a new mascot bear becoming the new favorite in Asia. This black bear mascot came from Taiwan and he was the ambassador for Universiade 2017, his name is Bravo.

Bravo and Kumamon are both black bear, the biggest difference between them is the big white “V” mark on Bravo’s chest, which can only be seen on the native black bear in Taiwan.

Many people may not know, when Bravo first appeared couple years ago he didn’t attract much attention and nearly no popularity. Bravo then toured around schools in Taiwan to cultivate fans, and held fan meetings every week. In the meanwhile, Bravo took performance classes, learning to interact with people and let more people get to know him. To get media’s attraction, Bravo climbed up top of the peak to welcome sunrise in snow. Bravo’s suffered from heat stroke and fell many times while running in various occasions. He also served coffee under brutal sun outside Taipei Metro Station. Last month, Bravo accidentally fell from the stage during a performance, the incident was captured and reported widely on news channels around Taiwan. People started to pay attention and send their caring to Bravo, luckily Bravo (and the puppeteer) was just little frightened and didn’t get hurt.

Bravo’s cuddly adorable appearance and hard‑working character made his popularity booming in Taiwan, and his cute stuff toys were also sold out with high demand. Bravo was set to retire after Universiade 2017, but was then “hired” as the city representative of Taipei City due to his popularity. Bravo was wearing Universiade’s gold medal on his chest, but now he is wearing the gold medal representing Taipei City. In many citizens’ mind, especially for children and teenagers, Bravo becoming the new icon of Taiwan.

Thousands of fans rushed into Bravo’s fan meeting at Taipei City Council, people waited hours just to take a picture with him. His fan page has few hundred thousand followers now, everyone are excited when Bravo appeared during activities around Taiwan.

This whirlwind is blowing from Taiwan to Asian and he’s ready to take on the world. Maybe you only heard of Kumamon before, but now get ready to meet Taiwan’s new idol, who’s achieved superstar status – Bravo!!
