With over 10 weeks to go until Christmas just, rail travellers are increasingly being urged to get tickets because of their festive journeys soon to avoid sky-high prices down the road.
Rail travellers already are bracing themselves for an inflation-busting 3.2pc rise in fares from January 2019 and must contend with the notoriously busy Christmas period before then.

Ticketing website Skyscanner said that nearly all train companies released advance tickets around 12 weeks prior to the scheduled departure date. Unlike plane journeys, where prices fluctuate in the entire months prior to the flight, rail journeys only have more expensive – meaning travellers should act to find the cheapest deals now.
