The final number of foreign tourists arriving in Iran, 2019 increased by 50 percent, said the deputy head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and handicraft Organization for Tourism Affairs.

Speaking in a press conference on 12th International Festival of Tribe’s Cultures to be held in Golestan Province, Vali Teimori added that despite a 17-percent decline in the real amount of European travelers, a substantial rise has been witnessed in the amount of tourist arrivals in Iran from regional countries through the period.
He said the figures derive from passport stamps by Iranian Immigration and Passport Police as the provincial tourism departments will be the main sources for announcing the quantity of domestic travelers visiting differing of Iran.
The official said that as a result of insufficient tourist satellite account (TSA), being an international criteria, in Iran, the figures aren’t precise.
The official said establishing TSA in Iran is possible by using Statistical Center of Iran and Tourism Bank.
Teimori added an idea was recently submitted to World Tourism Organization contacting the international body to greatly help ICHHTO’s tourism department in this respect.
“We have been determined to utilize the trip distribution model in Iran”, he said adding holding the international festival of tribe’s cultures is one of the plans devised by the ICHHTO’s tourism department to make this happen objective.
He believed that the cultural and religious diversity of Iran can’t be within any regional country, stressing that the potential may be used to draw more foreign tourists.
Speaking at exactly the same press conference, Director General of Golestan Province’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and handicraft Department Ebrahim Karimi said the 12th International Festival of Tribe’from November 20-23 in Gorgan and from November 24-28 in Gonbad Kavous s Cultures will undoubtedly be held in Gorgan.
He said 31 provinces will take part in the handicraft exhibition to be held through the festival, pointing out a large numbers of provinces having local music shall also be a part of its music festival.
Karimi said the 12th International Festival of Tribe’s Cultures shall give a suitable chance of introducing Iranian villages with eco-tourism potentials.
“A souvenir exhibition, to be participated by all Iranian provinces, will undoubtedly be held through the festival also,” he concluded.
