According to the updated information, 4.5 million fans and tourists have visited the Russian capital during the days of the World Cup, including 2.3 million foreigners, as the Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin told to Interfax.
“3.1 million fans stayed in Moscow overnight, the rest of fans stayed in the city in the mode of excursionists or transit passengers”, S. Sobyanin said.
According to him, the load of hotel room has exceeded 90% for the first time in many years. “However, we needed no emergency measures, such as the deployment of tent camps. The hospitality infrastructure in Moscow proved that it had enough safety resources to hold events of this level”, as the Mayor said. He recalled that there was a lot of concern about the issue, whether the metro will cope with peak loads after the end of football matches.
