The Seychelles Tourism Board took part in the 27th edition of ‘Vakanz’ – an annual travel and tourism trade fair in Luxembourg. The event was held from January 12 to 14, 2018.
For the first time, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) office in Paris had its own stand at the ‘Vakanz’ fair in collaboration with local trade partner European Reservations.
The STB team was led by the Director for Europe, Bernadette Willemin, while European Reservations was represented by Daniella Payet-Allis and Maryse William.
The Vakanz fair was the first of a series of consumer fairs including niched ones that the Seychelles Tourism Board has lined up for the first trimester of 2018 in the France & Benelux region. This is in line with its strategy of reaching out to consumers from different market segments.
Mrs Willemin said the Seychelles’ team left Luxembourg very satisfied having had a great presence at the tourism fair. The island nation’s stand attracted a large number of visitors who showed particular interest in the destination.
“We wanted to showcase the diversity and variety of our products, and the fact that Seychelles has something to offer each and every traveller. We thus brought to the fore our attributes including our unique flora and fauna, world class diving and fishing, exceptional cruising within our archipelago, the Seychellois culture among others while ensuring that the visitors to our stand got to know about the wide range of hotel infrastructure available, catering for all tastes and budgets,” said Mrs Willemin.
Vakanz is considered to be the Greater Region’s largest travel and tourism trade fair. It is held annually over three days in January, seeing the participation of more than 200 exhibitors from all over the world, at stands covering an area of around 17,000 m2.
The 27th edition of the event recorded some 29,000 visitors who toured the exhibition grounds to obtain a foretaste of cultural discoveries, other seaside or land-based activities, as well as relaxing and pleasurable holiday breaks on offer for couples and families.
