Seychelles was among over 50 countries exhibiting at this year’s Holiday World Show in Dublin, Ireland.
The 2018 Holiday World Show was held at from January 26 to 28 at the RDS Simmons court.
The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Director for UK & Ireland, Christine Vel, was present at the three-day event.
It was the perfect opportunity for STB to showcase Seychelles’ unique selling propositions to the Irish travel trade and potential travelers.
The Holiday World Show, Dublin which showcases exotic travel destinations in Asia, Africa, Middle East and the Caribbean, along with several other attractive tourist destinations, provides a one-stop shop for holiday research. Suppliers of numerous travel related products ranging from travel pillows to caravans also adds to the show’s variety.
Some 1,000 eminent and experienced travel professionals were present this year to share their rich travel experiences with the visitors.
Similar to past editions, the annual event attracted a large crowd, mostly at the weekend, as Irish holidaymakers came out to discover the huge range of vacation options and exclusive deals on offer.
STB’s Director for UK & Ireland, Christine Vel said Seychelles attracted much interest at the show.
“The Irish travelers already know about the Seychelles, but it was more about educating them and providing them with useful information on how to get there, what is the best time to visit, what’s there to do in Seychelles mentioning particularly island hopping among other activities,” she added.
Ireland has been a steady market for Seychelles in recent years, although there was a slight decline in arrival number in 2017 when 984 Irish visitors came to the island destination, compared to 991 in 2016.
There is potential to further develop this market, which enjoys good connections to Seychelles with a number of airlines including Emirates, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Qatar Airways flying from Dublin via their main hub.
The STB office in the UK embarked on a number of promotional drives including radio campaigns and training for the tour operators and travel agents in 2017. As it endeavors to attract a bigger share of visitors from that market, STB is planning to conduct even more training and promotional campaigns this year.
